I bought the showroom car at a dealer. A lot of people have been adjusting things, and a factory reset would be nice.

But the factory reset ask me to do it from the Ford Pass app, and the Ford Pass app can’t connect due to authorization issues.

Can I do a factory reset with ForScan?

You can do a factory reset in the vehicle, in the settings.

Is the vehicle assigned to you in Ford website/account, yet?

I believe you cannot perform this until you add the vehicle in Fordpass...to which I would think it then does it automatically (by migrating) or then allowing for the reset.

The vehicle is assigned to me on the Ford website/account.

But I can not connect Ford Pass to my vehicle, I get this error:

"Sorry, your authorization rights for your F150 could not be changed. Please try again later."

Try waiting 24 hours (if you haven't already) to see if it allows you to make the changes.

Otherwise, if this is a android mobile app, try logging off the app, clear the cache, clear the data, uninstall the app, reboot the phone, reinstall the app, log in to see if the app pulls the proper vehicle configuration that you can then control & make progress with the factory reset.

If you have the IOS app, mostly the same process except the clearing data/cache might be a different process ( I don't do Apple products )

Good point!

There must be a piece of the previous owner removing/resetting the vehicle from their account as well. When I went to add mine to FP app (before purchasing), I attempted to add to FP before I even flew out-of-state but it wanted confirmation on the Sync screen.

I was able to add it to FP app from the dealer: after I test drove it but before I physically purchased it by acknowledging the step on Sync screen.

Great advice folks.

Unfortunately nothing works. In the diagnostic menu I can see that the status of the TCU is disconnected. Is this the TCU itself, or the cellular network?

Can I set up to Wifi through ForScan? Can't find any wifi settings in the SYNC-menues.

Does Ford support connected services in Norway? Just because it has a TCU, it does not mean it will communicate with Ford's servers there.

They do, but I am in waiting line for some mysterious modification to enable this. But that could be months away. So currently I am on factory OTA, from 2023.

But a factory reset should not be stopped by this? In my opinion at least :)

Setting up a wifi-connection with ForScan could get the OTAs flowing?

I don't think I have ever seen a vehicle ask to do a master reset through Fordpass before. I am not sure if the Euro spec vehicles are spec'd different where this is required. Was your vehicle built for Norway or was it imported from the US?

Unless the problem is some kind of misconfiguration preventing connectivity from working, FORScan will not help you to get OTA's working. The first thing I would try is to disconnect the negative cable from the small 12v battery in the truck for 20 minutes for force a hard reset of all the modules and then try again.

I had an issue like yours - I had started using a android phone when I set the truck up with FordPass, but decided the screen was too small and wanted to switch to a tablet. Problem I had was the two devices had different emails associated with them. I had to send an authorization from the phone email address to the tablet to authorize using that device.

Along the way I read up on the whole mess. I was tempted to do the reset, but finally figured out the email address issue.

Here is some of what I copied from Ford, the system and factory resets procedures are at the end from: https://www.ford.com/support/how-to.../how-do-i-perform-a-sync-masterfactory-reset/

Maybe it will help?

If you tried the factory resent and system resets and they both failed, call the number for help: Ford Customer Relationship Center at 1-800-392-3673 or choose our Live Chat option.
--------------

"...did you create a second FordPass account after deleting FordPass or attempting to log in?
If yes, you may have another email address that contains your authorized vehicle. Please log out and try logging in with your other email address...."

"...Are you getting a message that the vehicle has already been activated?
Yes, but I am the only user - You may have another email address that contains your authorized vehicle. Please log out and try logging in with your other email address.
Yes, but I am a secondary user - You will need approval from an authorized user.
Tap the Request Authorization tab if you will be an additional command user.
A message will be sent to all current activated users.
They will receive a message in their app of your request.
Once approved, you will have command access. ..."

"...If you attempted/confirmed the steps above and your vehicle did not activate, please select to Contact a Guide.

Note: If you want to activate a vehicle and remove all existing activated users, you can perform a Master Reset.

How do I perform a SYNC®* master/factory reset?

Master/factory resets are performed using the SYNC system in your vehicle. To perform a reset, identify your SYNC generation and follow the steps outlined below.

Examples of reasons to perform a master/factory reset may include:

Before selling or transferring ownership.
After purchasing or leasing a pre-owned vehicle.
Before and after renting a vehicle.

Identify Your Vehicle's SYNC Generation

Use these resources to help identify your vehicle's SYNC generation:

The SYNC and Navigation Updates page allows you to enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or log in with your Ford credentials and select Check for update. Your current SYNC generation will appear on the right-hand side of the page.
The SYNC Visual Reference Guide has example images of each SYNC generation.

SYNC Master/Factory Reset Instructions

Important:
A master/factory reset erases all stored data, such as call history, text messages, previously paired phones, navigation favorites, and modem activation.
A master/factory reset does not return your SYNC system to previous software versions.
Your vehicle must be in Park (P) and running, not in accessory mode.
Make sure you are in a well-ventilated area.

-----
SYNC 4

Before performing a SYNC 4 factory reset, try a system reset to restore functionality. The system reset does not delete any data you have stored.
-----
Performing a System Reset
To reset the system, choose the option below that applies to your vehicle.

Vehicles equipped with a Power button: Press and hold both the Power button (center of the volume knob) and the Seek Right button for 10 seconds.

If the system reset does not resolve the issue, continue with a factory reset.
-----
Performing a Factory Reset
Important:
A factory reset will make all subscriptions (Navigation, Ford BlueCruise, etc.) unavailable for up to ten business days.
After the master/factory reset, you must re-activate your vehicle in the FordPass App for remote features (remote start, lock, unlock, etc.) to be available again.
---
Click here to see how to activate FordPass Connect.
https://www.ford.com/support/how-to...-i-activate-my-vehicles-modem-using-fordpass/
---
On your vehicle's SYNC screen:

Select Settings.
Press Reset.
Select Factory Reset.
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the factory reset.
