You can sideload the BCM update in Forscan. not really a big deal. You just need the files..

I used to be able to get a lot of it but Ford has declared war on me.. I cant even have an active FDRS account it gets banned the second I log in.

BCM doesn't take that long to flash maybe 3-5 mins.

Need to load the files in the correct spot and that's it. As far as the vin goes nothing in the as build will change during a flash of the BCM. You will have to write all after to clear the 2100 DTC.

There may be some as build changes after the update in FDRS.. but its easy enough to parse them out from a 24 as build.

Are the BCM files the same for all Lightnings? Because if you say it's safe, I don't mind helping peoiple do it like I have been with other side-loads.

Yes, all the way to 25.. its best to download the files from their vin but we use 24-25 bCM files for passive entry upgrades.

Well, seeing that you and I are in the same FDRS boat up shits' creeek with no paddle, I can't ask somebody to get me files every time someone wants to do it, so we will have to make due.

I'm sure not paying for $1200 a year to Ford to help them fix their problems. :ROFLMAO:

Yesterday when I checked, all I had was the ACM update that never clears....

Today I've got a complete set of powertrain updates and yet another trailer module update.

I had to double-check that I'd entered the right VIN. I was so surprised that anything showed up for my truck. It's been a 'minute' as they say...

Sooo mixed results.....

TRM was done first...took maybe a minute.

Then I stepped though the powertrain items by starting with the PCM and then just turning on and off the truck when told to do so. No drama.

And when that was finished I came back to the menu to find an OBCC update that I had initially overlooked mentioning in my previous post above.....so okay I started on that and got nowhere due to a comms error. This is using a Bosch VCM3 and the PL6100, and having just done a complete set of powertrain updates.....I knew it wasn't my rig that was the problem.

I exited.....did a selftest and everything was still reporting green.....and had another go...same thing. Rinse and repeat. Still the same.

So I've got the ACM update that never goes away along with an OBCC update that won't proceed because there's a communications error of some sort.....even though the module is working fine and communicating on the network...and is in fact now charging my truck as I write this.

I'm thinkin' others are gonna have issues with that OBCC update...post back here if you do...or if it went through for you, either way.

For anyone that has the beta forscan and wants to compare. Below is what mine shows with an updated BCM.

I've never used FORSCAN to update a module before.

I have the files for the OBCC that doesn't program due to a comms issue......how would I update that OBCC using FORSCAN instead of FDRS?

I think you need the beta version to do updates, from what I've read before ...but that's all I know.

EDIT: After a brief search I've found the beta forum and downloaded the latest...and am now reading through the process described on that site.

Oh, and for anybody that also owns a Mach-E it appears that this morning those exact same OBCC update files are now available for that vehicle as well. I wonder if it's gonna give me a comms problem when trying to update that one as well?

I logged in today and that was the only update waiting. I got the same errors/issues.

The tricky part is knowing where the files go. In the case of the OBCC, it may be much easier than the BCM since I doubt it has so many config files. Plug in with beta and post a screenshot of what the programming page looks like. If the OBCC is just one of each (one strat, one config and/or calibration file, then it will be easy.

I would recommend you PMI the OBCC as it is and keep those files handy in case you need to revert back after you flash the new files.
