To be fair, it was extremely unlikely that important powertrain parts were going to be available in 10 years anyhow. Tech is moving so fast. Also, the "we will support it for 10 years" is a cop out. 10 years from now it will be 2035, just two years before the 2037 event when its possible all these trucks could turn into bricks if they dont have software support anymore.
Fine. But Ford isn't building trucks FOR YOU. They are building trucks for the masses, and the masses buy trucks because they need to haul or tow. Otherwise they'd buy a car.My LIGHTNING is NOT to tow. My LIGHTNING is NOT to use in business. My LIGHTNING is simply my vehicle, just like a MachE is to others, or a ModelY is to many, or a Nissan LEAF still is to yet a few.
As someone with a degree in meteorology/climatology who has been studying weather and climate for 40 years, all I have to say to this is that if you're that gullible I've got some ocean front property in Kansas I'll make you a KILLER deal on.This climate change denier administration won't be around for much longer. This vehicle is a gem. Ford will again be a loser instead of a leader. What a shame. Found On Road Dead. Bringing back old memories.
For any corporation, loyalty is a one way street (and it always goes in the wrong direction.)Every EV company I show loyalty to dumps me in the end.
Tesla with my Model 3 after Elon went nuts.
Ford with my Lightning now abandoning it.
I'm afraid if I go to Rivian theyll go bankrupt or something.
This is worse than not wearing my lucky jersey for a birds game.
Yeah that was basically just for an ideal situation. I don't forsee it being possible for them to fully power the battery using the generator. You are also forgetting the use case for max towing uphill with a dead battery. To be successful, I think you need to support that without a significant loss in performance. That would put the generators max sustained output closer to 300kw (or 400hp)
Really ... you don't see the "overall" weather changing? To be fair, it was extremely unlikely that important powertrain parts were going to be available in 10 years anyhow. Tech is moving so fast.

And what happens when the original owner sells it or trades it in one day? Maybe the second owner is a guy who NEEDS a truck and will tow with it. Ford has to engineer these things to do their intended purpose, regardless of whether YOU will or not.

Absolutely not.Really ... you don't see the "overall" weather changing?
Expect a resurgence of interest in the BEV when the nationwide average gas price hits $ 6.66.It’s not the US. It’s the market. Unfortunately at this time people don’t want EVs in mass. I like the idea of letting the market decide. When the prices are right, and the time to charge shortens and you can tow a decent distance I think lots more people will go that way. I love my 23 ER. I won’t be getting rid of it anytime soon. In fact I don’t think I’d go back to a ICE vehicle. But there are others that think differently. The problem was we were creating a false market by incentivizing people to buy one using tax dollars. Believe we all pay for it. That money does not come out of thin air. The market will correct and we will see what comes of it.
And Mach E sales suck too. It’s on borrowed time until the new stuff starts coming out, then likely toast too. It’s getting long in the tooth anyway at this pointBased on the lackluster Lightning sales, how can anyone say this is a bad idea? I know everyone here loves their truck on this board, but Mach-E sales have outpaced the Lightning by a fairly wide margin, which means the market right now for an all-electric truck isn’t looking great.
I don’t mind the idea, so I’ll wait to see the details. Hopefully, it’s not a full-blown V6 that Dodge is using.
I wish that they woulI understand Ford's decision. I'm just saying I don't like it. But they are a public traded company that needs to make money. I understand that. But at the same time they're putting out an announcement on the lightning forum. Lol like they thought they'd get a lot of backers on that front. @Ford Motor Company doesn't seem to have a clue about its audience in this context.
That said, there's lots of sponsored ads that I'm seeing on this thread for the scout for him and the Rivian forum. LOL
Yes. Although I’m for certaI agree with the last part of your statement 100%. Our government should not be artificially creating the market. DROP THE BAN ON IMPORTS!! Let the free market work. If our government doesn’t want to subsidize the technology, fine. But don’t prohibit me from making a Capitalism Free Market decision to by something else.
That might happen sooner than later in the people’s republic of California. Refineries keep closing. Gas keeps going up. I don’t live here but am working here. I just smile as I glide past the gas station and pull into work and plug into the free 80amp charger.Expect a resurgence of interest in the BEV when the nationwide average gas price hits $ 6.66.
No one is denying that it's been warmer before and even the warming effect has absolutely nothing to do with anything any human has ever done, how do we live in a warmer climate?Absolutely not.
Riddle me this Batman... why was it exactly the same in the late 1800s and early 1900s, by actual records, before diesel trucks and interstate highways and aerosol cans and all the other things the tree huggers claim is ruining the planet? If we use records, and not assumptions, there is nothing new going on.
Ain't that the truth...For any corporation, loyalty is a one way street (and it always goes in the wrong direction.)
