Can confirm this updated to the 500A charge curve finally.

you’d think ford would want to advertise that in the update notes…

If it fails again, you need to put the battery on a maintainer and also try running the truck
By the way, maybe when they replaced the battery they didn't reset the BMS correctly, might try that (see a previous post in this thread)?
Thanks for the advice.

The update ended up going through on its own without a battery tender or additional BMS reset. Had it charging on my FCSP Wednesday night (02/18) and woke up to a 100% SOC, so I knew it finally went. I keep my Target Charge at 90%. As many others have experienced, I also lost my Target Charge Location (home), and Preferred Charge Times. Was able to Level 2 charge again last night, and after some fiddling with additional blank menus in the iOS FordPass app, I re-added my Target location/times. FWIW, my OBII showed LVB at 91% SoC when turned off (at 12.34V) and when running (14.9V) the morning after the update.

I don't know if it was the update or something else, but we're having snow and frozen rain this evening and the FCSP keeps disconnecting and error-ing, says it can't connect to the server as well...charge port is covered so no moisture is getting in there as far as I can tell...alas, there is always something...

May have been utility power glitches, there were a couple around the time FCSP reported errors.

I notice now the FCSP says it is charging (in the Ford App - Charge Station) when it is not supposed to be, and in fact isn't charging but the PPOB is connected and on.

The PPOB has no load on it though, haven't switched the house over to PPOB yet.

So it is nice to see what the PPOB is doing in the Ford APP, but,,,I can't control it with the APP at all, no "ON/OFF" toggle switch unless I missed it? Even when the truck is on.

Sigh...

Thanks for the update. Having it charge overnight has worked for me too. But not always. I’ve had these inhibit updates fail on at least four occasions and all except one finally went through after different combinations of charging, running truck for 4+ hours, or battery tender. Back in ‘23 I had one fail for two weeks before it finally expired and never installed.

The PCM controls PPO so hopefully that's all that is needed for PPO with truck off. Need someone who didn't get it to work before to try it now after this update.

As for charging speed on dash, hopefully this also updates the other two modules for that one too.
Did not add that function to my 2023 Pro - still says PPOB can't be on unless the truck is on.

Did you make the needed Forscan change? It creates a slider on the PPO screen that allows PPO to continue when you turn the truck off. Also see this post.

2023 Lightning Pro
*Update: for those who are enrolled in an incentive program with your energy provider (I'm with XCEL), you may want to verify that your Lightning is still active in the program since the update wiped previously stored data. Ford Energy Rewards support couldn't verify my enrollment yesterday and has had to go through their process again.

Around Feb 14, the Fordpass app and the truck screen on the '23 Pro was showing the 25.8.5 update was ready to install at my next automatic install preference of 1:00am. I plugged in and secured the truck and left the Pro to do it's thing. The next day, and for the next several days the app said the update had been interrupted and to contact Ford. Each day I either tried to manually start the update, with and without the truck on the charger, or via the automatic time of 1:00am. On Friday, Feb 20, I called Ford and tech told me that the update was interrupted due to a lower than 80% charge on the 12 volt, which had just been replaced under warranty Jan 26. Tech said to try once again and if the update failed then call the dealer.

Well, the update installed Friday night and wiped out all of the home location and charge limit info in the app. The app said that a charge session had to be completed in order to set a location and charge limit. I plugged in the charger and twice manually stopped charging, but the app wouldn't reset. I then allowed the charger to go to 100% so the truck would stop the charging session, and then within two hours the app reset and allowed me to once again save all of my preferences. The tech didn't tell me that he had done anything to the truck's software, but it seems that just connecting to the Ford Cloud perhaps cleared a buffer or maybe I just got lucky once again?

Thanks for the link.
No, not yet, I was thinking Ford was about to implement it (ha!).

Not a long walk for me from the house to the driveway, so I can live without it.

It just seemed like a half-asked thing for Ford to do to add the PPOB to the FORD app without any way to control it...almost passive aggressive, lol.

I share that concern, too. I figure if I miss my monthly DTE Energy SmartCharge reimbursement next month, I'll know why...

Beware:

I can’t be certain it was this update because I rarely use it, but after this update my door keypad pin was deleted (in addition to charging locations). Caught me by surprise when I had neither phone nor key on me one day.

💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯

Always verify basic access by door codes and emergency startup codes when any UPDATE is applied to our trucks!

I'd be Ef'n pissed to be stranded with no FOB and screwed backup codes.

Some folks who venture out w/o a FOB should consider keeping one set in the center console, remove the battery to save the power to it.

Got my monthly reimbursement on-time this month. Going to keep tabs for one more month, just to be sure...

Doing some verification still, but it seems that in addition to 500A for trucks that didn't already have it, this update seems to have opened up acceptable DC pin temps considerably and should give better charging in high ambient temps.

Gathered some data and made visuals - I bought my 2022 ER in Mar 2025 and it had the 500A CSP done when I got it, so I don't have any data for the 450A charging behavior.

In short, prior to this update (can't prove it was this update, but if this enabled 500A for vehicles without it, seems the most likely update to be the trigger), Lightning would derate DCFC when DC pin temps reach ~61C and if the temps don't start to steady state or reduce, it will continue to derate until reaching a floor of about 90kW (after initial boost that is also shortened by pin temps).

With this update, Lightning now allows a more aggressive curve (full boost) up to about 81C DC pin temps before going to ~125kW steady state.

TL;DR: This should result in much better charging in high ambient temps (80F+), with an adapter (Superchargers) and/or with passively cooled DCFC cables (not all DCFC cables are actively cooled - even at higher power). This should make summer road trips a better experience.

This update cost me $100. My truck updated and wiped my schedule and charged to 100 percent twice during peak hours. I have it shut off at 4 and resume at 7pm and I didn’t notice it was wiped. My power company picks your highest on peak day of the month and charges you out the butt

so in other words thank you @fordmotorcompany for extremely high power bill.
