I would suggest reinstalling it and take screenshots of your settings.

Does anyone know how to recalibrate the face detection? Currently, the comma believes I am looking straight at it rather than toward the road, and reminds me to pay attention when I am looking straight.
No idea. I never look straight.

I’m not able to get my comma 4 working on my 23 lariat. I have bp-6 installed and it just says start car to use sunnypilot, even when the car is on. I have the inline resistor installed. The usb c is firmly seated, and so are both ends of the harness. At a loss.

Start flipping the usb-c around on one end or the other .. like literally flip it in place to the other side of the usb-c connector -- it sounds silly but it's the advice and it actually works :)

I wound up having to replace the long usb-c with one recommended by @Ajzride which solved the issue finally.

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried every possible scenario just now. Kept orientation 1 on the mount and flipped between 1 and 2 on the harness. Then flipped on the mount and tried 1 and 2 on the harness. Same issue.

When you have the "start car" message, can you access the settings menu?

If you can access the settings menu, manually choose the Lightning as your vehicle.

Yes I can. I was able to select the vehicle through sunnylink as well.

I'm not totally following your descriptions here...

Did you flip the USB plug 180 deg (unplug one end, flip 180, plug back in)?

Try one end of the long cable, start truck and let Comma boot up, see if there's any change. If no change, do the same thing on the other end of the long USB. Make sure that when you do this that you really force the USB plug into the receptacle, like uncomfortable force. These have been known to be super finicky.

Make sure the lightning bolt icon on the resistor coupler faces towards the truck and the Comma icon towards the Comma.

If still no joy, try the 180 flip on the short cable.

Make sure both ends of the Comma harness are also uncomfortably forced together until they click on the jacks.

Make sure that your harness is connected into the black plug of the IPMA, not the gray one.

After that, I'm stumped.

I'll give @Ajzride the bat-signal now....

Yes unfortunately.

The start car message means it is not detecting the 12v ignition signal on pin 12 of the harness. Usually it's due to an incompatible USB cable (lower quality cables don't have all the wires terminated). If you are using the comma supplied cable, it could just be a bad USB cable. To narrow it down between the harness and the USB cable, hook the device up under the dash using only the short USB-C cable that comma ships with all units. You can't drive like this, because the cable is too short to reach the windhsield, but you can tell if the "start car message" goes away.

What you’re explaining on the usb flipping is what I did.
On the resistor and lightning and comma symbols, I’m not seeing those. It’s enclosed within the 3d printed case as I received it from bluepilot. Can you elaborate on that one?

i confirmed it is on the black plug, 2 plugs up from the fiber optic lines (not the gray one).

wow. Thank you for the suggestion. Tried the short usb, turned the truck on, and it immediately turned the camera on and asked me to start driving.
What usb do you recommend for the long one to fix this issue?
