I am going to go forward this next week with the battery replacement from the salvage one, it has 35k miles on it so it should be good, all I am out is the cost to pick it up and put it in the return if it doesn't work. The first problem was with the battery pack so that I don't think went away.
While the modules are swappable, keep in mind that you need a way to balance the incoming module with the others. You don't want to just connect everything together until all the voltages are as close as possible (at least I think that's how it works).

Caution on balancing modules with any ad hoc technique or equipment - Gruber Motors, who recondition Tesla batteries, may have burned down their entire shop this way (the first time it burned down). Would not personally attempt it without access to the official Ford procedure and equipment, which for me at least means module replacement other than at a Ford dealer is likely forever off the menu.

I bet the dealer you went to had misplaced or somehow avoided initially ordering the balancing equipment - yes this is a thing - and wanted to mark up your work to cover the cost of a new tool.

Yeah there's a cell balancing machine that I think I remember the shop lead telling me cost $8K to buy as part of the required EV tools for the shop. That's used when they replace cells before the pack ever gets put on the lift table to get reinstalled back into the vehicle. I don't know how anybody would do that at home...

After replacing the battery pack the BCMC and the BECM still will not come back online, I cleared the codes and retest of course a few ties and nothing, I have verified the fuses are ok. I think there has to be a cable issue, there were some wire coating clippings on the top of the old battery pack. This is what the FDRS shows now.

Inspect entire cable run from HVB to related module for animal damage.

How hard would it be to replace the entire cable?
There are two outstanding resources out there that deal with electric vehicle repairs and rebuilds that I would be reaching out to.

Alex who has his own shop in North Carolina and is part of Out of Spec Renew on YouTube.
https://www.youtube.com/@OutofSpecRenew

Martin Meeks, who rebuilds these vehicles and Teslas for resell. He is out of Kansas.
Check him out on Facebook and YouTube.

Both are super nice and knowledgeable folks.

Good Luck to you.

I'd look for 12V coming out of the BCMC going to the BECM and work that angle.

@Mike G Do you have a part number available on that harness? Maybe even the replacement procedure? My Motorcraft subscription has expired at the moment.

The dealer didn't inspect the harness to diagnose that?

It looks like the OP is out for a few days for a medical procedure, he did share a few texts with me today. It sounds like the rodent damage happened because the vehicle sat for a quite a while as he argued with Ford about the repair costs. He is pursuing having the rodent damage repaired as an insurance claim since he has comprehensive coverage. I suspect it will be a few weeks before we get an update.

Ooof, insult to injury....thank you for the update. I hope everything goes well for the OP (both medical and for the truck).
