$28,350 Starting Price *until your dealers get involved
Like Slate's price, it excludes destination charge, then there's registration, tax & paperwork fees.

If it does happen, Slate is screwed….
I'll wait to see what the base model is before getting too worried. And I want to see more reviewers try a production slate and see what's under the panels.

But this thing coming out is one reason I wouldn't want to reserve a Slate just yet.

This also has 4 doors, while Slate only has 2. And optional AC, power windows, etc.... but I digress.

Delivery and TTL fees are a drop in the bucket to the ADM games dealerships will try to play with these vehicles. A new budget EV platform positioned well under median new vehicle cost is rife for exploitation. Let's just hope Ford learned a lesson and doesn't overestimate reservation conversion rates like they did with the Lightning.

Granted but one correction, Slate includes AC. https://www.slate.auto/en/hvac

Another thing going for it (I think / hope) is repairability and less to go wrong. But not many people will think of it until something breaks.

Good to know, didn't think they all had AC as standard kit. I'd actually be interested in Slate if they had AWD available on release, I don't need a seasonal vehicle.

A $30-$40k vehicle will be embraced by many here in America. The low cost of operation and small size will be exciting for folks 30-50 years younger than most on the Lightning forum. The current price of EVs in America is crazy. Very exciting news if FORD is able to pull it off.

I might get one to pull behind my RV if that is an option....
Only if you put all 4 wheels on a trailer...

That is definitely a negative for the Slate. I'm curious what it will cost to go AWD with this Fathom.

The fathom is going to have significantly more standard equipment than the Slate for similar money. Again, it’s not looking good for Slate.

Different strokes for different folks. I see a lot of people say "And this has two more doors!" as if that's a selling point for everybody. If that were the case, the Mustang wouldn't exist, the Miata wouldn't exist, the Corvette wouldn't exist, etc.

The simplicity of the Slate is enticing, but I'll probably end up with a Ford Fathom.

Remember the old days?
Maybe not available right now, but why not?

Manual Locking Hubs for Electric Vehicles
If you’re looking for manual locking hubs for an electric vehicle (EV), the good news is that many of the same brands and designs used in trucks and SUVs are available for EVs — but you’ll need to match the bolt circle, spline count, and axle diameter to your EV’s drivetrain.

The question for Ford and Slate for that matter is how much unit volume is it going to take to keep it in production and not get slammed with a 10 billion $ corporate right down. If the Lightning is any indication the number has 6 figures per year for Ford. Hopefully Slate can at least survive with half the volume. Add dealing with the upcoming "market adjustment" pricing and Fords previous "packaging" of options I wouldn't count on getting a 30K$ Ford any time soon.
