Keep in mind that if the door is open enough for the FCSP cable to not be pinched, it will easily be open enough to allow mice into the garage unless you come up with a spacer to block that.

Yes, this was the solution that MRLOGANROSS had suggested earlier. Seems like a good way to go, except UNDOR is out of Canada and isn't shipping to the US right now due to tariffs. I also saw somewhere (either here or a reddit that someone recommended) that their cable was too fat to fit it.

Mounted mine outside the garage under the house over hang. The house 200amp electrical panel is on the other side of the wall in the garage.
100amp breaker for the 80amp Charge Pro. Love charging at night at over 16kw.

I see that you're using the FCSP. I don't know what the other person was using. I'm planning on the Grizzl-E Ultimate 80 if my electrician says I've got the room.

My cable goes just fine under the garage door from the Ford Charger. Never had any issues.

You know you should be able to adjust the stop of the door up and down. So if the door is tight enough that the cable makes it reverse just adjust it up a smidge and then It should be fine.

This is what I did, plus swapping in an extra thick rubber seal at the bottom of the door. Works fine, costs $35 for the new seal, and took 10 min to recalibrate the door to not close all the way.

I've done some searching here already, but didn't really find any answer to this specific question. I'm considering getting the Grizzl-E Ultimate 80A EVSE, provided my electrician confirms we have the "electrical" room to install one. Otherwise, it'll have to be a 48A EVSE. I'm currently using the Level 1 EVSE that came with the truck and running the cord under the garage door. Will the larger 80A cord fit under the door with no problems? Is the 48A cable the same size? If not (assuming it's smaller), does it fit fine?

I'd love to pull into my garage, but as someone recently posted (WXman? WeatherMan?) it's possible by maybe 2 inches clearance. And that's from wall to door. I'd have to do some decluttering to have a clear wall. Also, I don't want to mount outside on the brick and in the elements. So for now, I have to operate on the assumption that charging outside with the cable under the door is the way it will be.

I got garage door seal and cut out about a 2 inch section for the cord to rest in when the door closes on the seal. My lightning and my ladies Mach-E have been charging with no issues since 2021.

No problem with running your cable under the garage door. Both my wall boxes reside inside the garage next to the door. Both my Mach E and Lightning are charged outside all year round.

I personally wouldn't plan to run a charge cable under the door. This is against electrical code (flexible cords may not be run through doorways or windows) for a reason. I have certainly done it temporarily -- sometimes you do what you have to do to get from the plug to the charge port.

I would mount the charger in a location that is convenient to where you actually park the truck. The Lightning is perfectly fine parking and charging outdoors 24/7. The Grizzl-E charger is weatherproof and has a reputation for handling any weather situation that's thrown at it.

I personally mounted my Ford Charge Station Pro to the side of my house, and both it (and my truck) have been fine outside for the last 28 months.

Well I can see extension cords running thru doors and windows, as they create a pinch point that could cut the protective sheath and expose conductors. However under a garage door does not create a pinch point. Perfectly fine to do that.

I ran my cord under the garage door. I created a 3/4" x 2" strip of wood that runs along the threshold of the opening of the garage door. I left a gap just big enough for the cord. You can adjust your garage door to accommodate the 3/4."

There are still risks with garage doors:

• If the garage door lacks a weather seal, or if the seal is worn or damaged, the door can act as a pinch point just like a conventional door or window.
• Even with a weather seal, the garage door can exert significant force on the cable:
  • While charge cable exteriors are expected to be abrasion resistant, the door could drive debris from the floor into the cable insulation with force higher than the cable was designed to withstand
  • Repeated applications of pressure could deform or otherwise compromise cable insulation, particularly if the cable is routinely squeezed at the same point or for long periods of time.
• Garage doors are typically made of metal:
  • Damaged or compromised doors may act as shears to cut through insulation or even cut into conductors.
  • If the garage door comes into contact with a conductor, the door may be energized and pose a fire risk or shock hazard.
• Cables routed through or ac ross doorways are exposed to foot and vehicle traffic that either would not contact the cable or could avoid the cable if it was routed elsewhere:
  • This is a trip and fall hazard for foot traffic
  • Vehicular traffic is could potentially damage the cable, the vehicle, or both.
• Methods for addressing these hazards depend on near-perfect human performance (such as always remembering to place a block next to the cable, re-adjusting the door so that it does not close fully, always stopping the door before it fully closes, etc.) and is therefore subject to random failure.
