I would let that fear subside.. it's better than BlueCruise by far just because it can be used anywhere and MADS is worth it too.. it steers, you still control the throttle.

It uses the same sensors to alert you and will not change if they're alarming, but it still does rely on you looking to be sure.

It’s just annoying, I’m completely happy with BlueCruise sans the cost. I really only want highway assistance but $495 annually for just highway assistance is bonkers.

Every time I used it was limited at best and always made me take over because of the mapping or construction etc..

None of that is an issue with the Comma and it works anywhere, no pre-mapping.

My 2024 Lariat only came with 3 months of bluecruise so I just rationalized the Comma by saying it saved me on a few years of bluecruise.

I’ve had it for the last 15 months and it’s not been an issue for me. When I drive from Cleveland, OH to Charlottle, NC, I maybe have 2 minutes of manual intervention during the 9 hour drive. That’s all I’m looking for.

So we’ll see, I’ll still consider a Comma 4 but I’d really prefer the built in tool that meets my needs. Also if 1.4 is it, I don’t think any Lightning owner should be charged for it. If the system runs 100% on the truck I don’t understand what Ford is charging us for? Certainly not future development….

You simply cannot make that level of progress in just 5 years without some serious capital to back it up. If you want the improvements to continue, you have to pay for the service.

Not only that, it will color that side of the screen red, which i find much more noticeable than the light on the side view mirror.

Or make an actually reasonable monthly bundle of connected nav, Bluecruise, and premium connectivity for $10 / month like Tesla is able to manage. (Bluecruise is nowhere close to FSD)

I get a kick out of the Connected Nav offerings. I wish there was a way to delete it from the home screen. The current Android Auto is literally dead accurate with arrival charge levels even when towing a saved trailer.

I let everything expire including BC after 4 years. I'd agree on a max price of $19/mo or $199/yr because we road trip a lot and it just works. That being said, my wife's 2025 Mach-E BC just expired and was 1.5 which is more valuable.

I believe the Lightning is stuck at 1.4 due to the processor being circa 2021-22. The newer Mach-Es have a different backend that can handle the auto lane change. Sync overall is less laggy in the 2025 ME.

Either way, even if I have it, not spending the money. Might use the cancel within 14 day trick before a road trip but you can only use that once per VIN, then the minimum buy is 30 days with no refunds.

I’m curious what will happen when mine “expires” at the end of the year even though my sticker says “BlueCruise 1.0” as an included feature with no mention of a trial.

At the very least I better continue receiving BC 1.0 for free.

Hands free mode will cease, all you'll have is adaptive cruise control.
Having the older version doesn't entitle you to perpetual hands free mode.
