I place a wave 2 order - but it hasn't been scheduled for production yet.

I've been rethinking my strategy a bit and wanted to rework my order so I emailed my dealer last night requesting a new configuration and they just called and said no, that it was not possible to change anything once the order was placed?

Any way around this? Why? When I ordered my Mach E I was able to make changes until the time it was scheduled for production.

If you have a VIN, it is too late. And they probably won't let you switch to a sold out trim.

I called Ford, It's because I tried to downgrade to an XLT, which is no longer available.

I also asked about making a change and was unable to. I was exploring if it would be possible to go from a Lariat SR to an ER. My dealer looked at my order in the system and told me it was "locked for major changes". Or something along those lines.

That was about 2 weeks ago, right as the first group of orders got scheduled. I'm still unscheduled right now, though. Hopefully soon....

It may depend on the type of change. I was able to modify mine twice. First time was color, second time was to add max tow and pro power.

Yes same here. Not in production yet and changed color twice and added max tow from original. Trim I would guess is more difficult. With our Mach E, the time between order placed and any production scheduling was many months away.

We’re you scheduled for production when you changed your color? Curious. I went with Lariat ER and Iced Blue Silver, but would change it for one other color, if I could.

I was not yet scheduled.
More than likely you have been prioritized 1-9. With that, you will not be able to change anything on your build and will be scheduled very soon (typically a week or two, check on Thursdays).

UPDATE!

So yesterday was quite the rollercoaster for me. Got home from work and was looking at my email and I had 2 emails from Ford - telling me that my dealer had refunded my $100 reservation and my $500 deposit.

Full panic mode.

Checked ford.com and my order still looked good. Frantically called my dealer to find out what was going on. When I finally got through to my guy, he let me know he was just going through and refunding deposits because they don't need a deposit to hold the truck, so he was giving the $$ back to their customers who didn't have a production week yet. But otherwise the order was fine. (whew!) Just still waiting on my date. My original order was placed on 1/20 for a Lariat SR.

While we were chatting he asked what I'd ordered and I reminded him that he checked last month to see if I could change to the ER and he'd said my order was locked.

To be honest, the recent 20 mile bump in EPA range for the ER had me wishing I'd ordered the ER to start.

He took another look as we were on the phone and said that the system would let him do it. So I had him make the switch. Got an "order update" from Ford a few minutes later and everything looks good.

I don't know if my guy made a mistake last month when he said he couldn't change it. I don't think so, though. He's been very aware and on top of things throughout this process.

My only guess is that now they've opened ordering back up they're also allowing some changes that they may not have previously. I dunno.

Anyhow, long story short, if you previously tried to make a change and weren't able to it's worth giving your dealer a call to see if you can do it now. I'd assume this is only if you don't have a production week yet, but I don't know.

My dealer made a change to my order. We removed the bed liner. His order sheet he sent me shows it's off but I never got an email from Ford and my online configuration still shows it. I'll be curious once the window sticker creates if it's still on there.

Possibly it was temporarily locked while corporate planners were doing a pre-view to see which orders would be selected for a production week, once they were done pre-viewing the lock came off.

I tried to make a change this week and my dealership told me since it was priority code 01 that he couldn't make any changes. Still not scheduled yet but I'm hopeful. he said he could change the code but that might impact build order so I decided not to change anything. So the priority code might also lock out changes.

edit: i am priority code 11 at my dealer

edit x2: Just received my email confirming the change from standard to extended with all the added features. Also confirmed with the dealer that my priority code remains at 11. Thank you for all the info in this thread!

That's great to hear about your priority code not changing. I have no idea what mine is, but glad to see that changing to the ER likely didn't affect my timeframe.
