Here is a Tesla model Y towing a light weight camper.

Good picture to have in your pocket the next time a Tesla driver gives you crap about taking up 2 spaces at the Supercharger. 😂

Thank You ALL for your input and advice that helped me decide. I went with a 6X12 only because I can also tow it with my Model Y. So today I bought a New 2026 Xpress 6X12 Pro Series Aluminum Enclosed Trailer 2990 GVWR.

Unloaded it did 1.3 mi/kW at 65 MPG on the 60 mile trip home.

I have to get reaccustomed to backing up a short trailer instead of my 34 foot previous 5th wheel and 33 foot bumper pull RV. It pulled so much easier backing into my driveway from the street.

Looks like a great option! I'm probably going to get a utility trailer, for dump runs of larger items, and/or Big Box trips of lumber etc. I don't need enclosed, but will want something better than a typical 5x8' ramp trailer.

Did you not consider a cargo trailer with the V nose? Has anyone put together an efficiency comparison with the Lightning and both the flat and V-nose trailers?

I barely remember one of the influencers on Youtube did one, minor reduction to the flat nose as compared to a V-nose.

The new trailer has a V-Nose. It’s had to see in my previous pictures.. Here is a picture from the dealer site that shows the X-Nose better.

I went with this trailer over a similar trailer because of the Aluminum frame. The Trailer weighs 650# less than a steel frame trailer.

Hopefully the V-Nose and lighter weight will help with towing efficiency.

Now pull out a sticker and setup the trailer with Pro Trailer Backup Assist.

yep. I couldn’t find the sticker or hard copy of the owner manual. My wife took them out of the glove box last year and now they are nowhere to be found. I received the replacement stickers that ordered from Amazon. I will put them on and calibrate the truck as soon as I get finished installing the E-Tracks on the walls and possibly D-Rings on the floor.

Right now it’s too cold outside …(57dF) for this warm blooded Floridian to work outside. 🤡

What I remember about flat nose versus v-nose comparison is height had a significantly greater effect on efficiency than front shape of the trailer.

Aging wheels on YouTube had a good trailer comparison video with his Silverado EV and a few different trailer setups. He is quirky and there is lots of stuff in this video. But a good apples to apples comparison of EV towing.

Here is a link:

Highly recommend you check your level. it appears the trailer is leaning backwards. It should be adjusted to just slightly leaning forward. Ive personally used an old bathroom scale with a 2x4 on the tongue to see how much weight was dropping down on the hitch.. Its crude but has always worked well for me in the past.

Also good luck, you will enjoy how well the truck tows. I Tow my SXS all the time with it along with firewood when i go to my parents properly to cut wood. On my SXS because its not very aerodynamic i get around 150miles per charge from 100-10%, but using the same trailer towing tree logs weighing 2-3x the weight i can get 180+ miles out of the trip, because there is less aero drag.

As long as we r on trailer info I thought I might add a question or 2. I have a 6x16 utility trailer and was told I did not need to balance the tires. Would it be better to have them balanced? Would it be better to upgrade to radial tires? The trailer is dual axle with brakes on both axles. It weighs about 2-2.5 k pounds and I have a tractor that is about 4k #. Well within the weight capacity of the trailer (7500#) and the truck. I drive curvy hilly country roads. I have driven the trailer unloaded for a test drive and it was smooth as butter. Love my flash!

I've beentold that even on my RV Travel Trailer. But I had them balanced anyway.
