Judging by this I'd be inclined to say you those first 4 kwh to warm the battery and that it's not a bug. 44 is not freezing but it is only just above the ideal temperature to charge a lithium ion pack.It just changed from blanks to 0 miles added.
No. The kWh displayed are net to the battery.Judging by this I'd be inclined to say you those first 4 kwh to warm the battery and that it's not a bug. 44 is not freezing but it is only just above the ideal temperature to charge a lithium ion pack.

This is exactly what I suspect, but I only relatively recently bought my truck and being in southwest louisiana it hasn't gotten cold enough for me to say definitively one way or another. It should, at least in theory, always warm the pack before charging but do it much faster on a level 2 charger. Maybe in a few months I'll find out first hand. It's charging normally now. I feel certain the battery was warm when I started and, at first, it cooled fast enough to reduce range by the amount the charge was adding. It may have even lost at a higher rate than the charge but all it can display is dashes in that situation. Once it displayed "0", it added range as usual.
I suspect it will do the same with the level 2 at home but the warming with the charge itself and the faster charge will mask the situation I see with the little level 1.
