Well, My connected navigation expired yesterday. I wonder what I will be missing since there's been no real updates on it since new?

Mine expired a month ago. I haven't missed it. I rarely travel and I don't need it for charger info. YMMV.

how much are they asking to renew it? I've got another year to go.

Connected Built-in Navigation - $80/year
Premium Connectivity - audio streaming and Alexa - $10/month or $119.95/year.

I dont miss it at all. You would have to pay me $80/year... check that, more like $80/month to even consider using that horrible NAV. Just use CarPlay / Android Auto & your favorite Map App.

The necessity and benefit of Preconditioning has been greatly overstated in my opinion. I dont DCFC a lot but I never used the Ford Nav and never noticed a throttled session (though admittedly I have not DCFC in what I would consider extreme temps)

Either way I'd take a slower charge session vs ever having to use that NAV system, much less paying to do so.

why would anyone pay $80/year for something that’s bad at what it’s supposed to do? Ford is crazy if they think they can extract a monthly fee for a subpar customer experience. I just hope they never remove CarPlay / Android Auto in a future “update” - if they do that, then I will never buy a Ford ever again. Companies need to understand that there’s a limit to how many times they can screw over their customers. BMW learned this when they tried a subscription model for heated seats, and quickly backpedaled…

I have to agree. The Ford navigation is so bad. I would never pay for it. Apple car play works great and if you want a pretty good experience with route planning to include robust charging information including chargers and times built into your trip. ABRP app. (A better route planner). I paid for it, I think there is a free option which has some limited functions.

Siri works 200 times better than the Ford AI that listens to you spout locations you would like to go to.

On another note I like Bluecruise but I would live without it rather than pay a subscription.

Without the connected navigation the manual states:

"Connected Navigation, the system will essentially become a moving map without any destination routing functionality if the subscription expires "

I will miss one aspect of this system. I like to monitor the anticipated charge level at my destination. It provides another feedback on how much energy I am using due to changing conditions such as headwinds.

Last trip in the Columbia Gorge we hit steady 30mph headwinds. I kept dropping speed little by little until this projected battery level at the set destination stabilized.

ABRP does this. And if you add an Odx adapter it is even more accurate. I haven’t tried my odx yet myself tho. I am not affiliated with ABRP I just like the app.

My experience I am better at doing this by doing the math in my head which is.... SOC% x 1.31 (Extended battery) x Current Trip Miles/kWh of current trip. Slightly adjusting the current Miles/kWh to projected based on anticipated variables of the remaining drive in comparison to miles already driven in that trip.

Added benefit... it's good mental exercise and gives me something to occupy me while I rack up miles!

I got my notice, but have never used Nav, and certainly not any 'connected' NAV, whatever that is... I certainly won't 'miss' anything. My phone does more for me than anything this truck, or any vehicle, can.

CarPlay does this as well, however, I find it to be very conservative, especially in the early stages of the route. It's not uncommon for it to tick up by as much as 10% during a trip for me.
