CSP-25B09 Replace Floor Console GSM

My dealership said my GSM replacement part is still on back order as well. The 2-month Mark on when the part was ordered is coming up. There is no ETA given.

@halfbakedenchilada, which region are you in? I wonder if parts availability is also based on location.

Just got word that the back order was pushed out to 9/19. Seems like every week it gets pushed out to the following Friday. I don’t think they really know anything lol

Yesterday the Dealer replaced my bad Gear Shift Module (GSM) with a new one, it was on back order from about July 31, 2025 to Sep 5, 2025. I can tell it was replaced because the fold down button has changed slightly, less shiny and it has a blue light up inlay.

I had my GSM changed out twice under warranty in less than a year. Both times, it would get stuck in gear when trying to move back to park when the door was opened. That and it would not stow away when the button was pressed. The first time, it was replaced with the same GSM with the same "grindy" noisy drive motor. When it was changed out last month, it has much much smoother operation and is much quieter. Ford must have realized that their original design was prone to problems and have revamped the shift mechanism.

After I received the CSP letter, I called and chatted with the Service Manager at my local dealership. He was aware of it, but showed the replacement part on back order. We also talked about the Upper Ball Joint recall, and lastly that I was getting close to my 10K service. He calls me every week of two to update. As of the last call, the GSM is still on back order. Once they get it, the plan is to do the GSM replacement, the 10K service and the recall on the Ball Joint - all at the same time. In the mean time I am not stowing the GSM (never used that feature anyway).

I just picked up my truck after this CSP was completed. I agree the shifter fold down function is much smoother and seems much better engineered. My first impression of it when I bought the truck was, it felt cheap and clunky.

It is now what it should be. Kudos to @Ford Motor Company for voluntarily taking care of this.

Still backordered. Dealer is telling me it will be 10/13 now and I have zero faith the part will be ready then. This is getting ridiculous…

The GSM replacement part is finally here and I got mine installed at the dealership today. It's definitely feels like a better made part. My original part used to shift roughly at every "tooth", but now it shifts smoothly. I know this is ultimately an electronic shifter, but the mechanical part was rough for me. The service was fast, took about an hour.

Finally! Got my replacement shifter installed today. It’s a much better designed part. It shifts smoother and quieter than before. Feels solid.
