I've read about the shifter issue. Given that I probably stowed the shifter twice since I've had the truck and for now won't do it again. Is it true that if you just use it as a gear shifter only (no stowing it down with the button) and make sure you don't rely on the truck to auto shift it to park will it avoid the failure(s)?

I didn't get the CSP letter or FordPass notice yet.

On my 2023, I never stowed the shifter a single time, and the powertrain errors started popping up at 43k miles, no idea why but seeing all of the posts on this forum and reddit clued me in as to what was going on.

The bulletin mentions if you already had the shifter changed under "TSB 25-2276– Various GSM concerns." then you wouldn't be seeing this CSP for your VIN.
Mine was done before that TSB came out so I wasn’t sure.

If I had to guess...I'd bet they are scanning installed part numbers to see who needs a new one. If yours was already replaced with the newer part, then you wouldn't get another one.

It really would be nice if Ford would tell us all of the part was corrected/redesigned otherwise the replacements won't likely be long term fixes.

Definitely replacing the shifter on my 2023 with a rotary dial when I'm out of warranty; yes, I know, you can do it beforehand and they shouldn't give you any crap about it, but I'm paranoid that way. :)

You can buy one now and just keep it as a backup. It just plugs in like the stick shifter. That’s my strategy for now anyways in case the shifter dies on me when I’m in the middle of nowhere.

I have never pushed the stowe button on mine but the GSM failed twice in 6 months ford knows it’s a bad part hopefully the new “AL” is the good one. Wrench light would come and go but truck would drive. Shifter would get stuck in park but a power cycle would fix it just annoying.

This site lists a few "replaced by" model numbers but I agree, would be nice to know which is being used "officially".

I'm going to put mine up on the marketplace here for sale as I went to the rotary dial and won't be going back. To hear some folks have lost their truck for days/weeks is crazy. My hope is this goes to someone in dire need vs a reseller.

I will just use the funds to buy a backup rotary dial shifter.

...and slightly different than the above, if someone wants my OEM shifter that was launching codes daily and doing the "ducka ducka" noise for curiosity/troubleshooting, just send me a PM as it's sitting in a box in my basement and I am never putting it back in my truck and I don't advise others to try it *except* for diagnostic troubleshooting, but I expect Ford has already done that many times over but ain't saying what they found I guess.

Thanks for offering a valid counterpoint; in my case, I had no DTC errors or problems with mine. I swapped just to go rotary.

Gonna proactively do a deep-dive into the install threads and probably order this to have on-hand. I may or may not wait for warranty to expire...this seems like a very simple/pain-free replacement process...

The CSP appeared in the app for me today. I guess I’ll bring it in and see what they say 🤷‍♂️

My service advisor at the dealership told me that the replacement part for 25B09 is on "national back order" and there is no ETA on when the part will be available. Is everyone else hearing the same thing?

I wonder if trucks prior to the listed build dates have the same OE shifter part, or if shifters installed in the listed trucks are different (either part revision or they discovered a bad part run).

This reminds me of a GM car I had back in the day. It was a 2002, and they recalled 2003-4 models for timing chains that could fail. Despite the 02s having the exact same components, it wasn't subject to the recall since they didn't observe enough of a failure rate to justify a recall. Well... my chain broke and grenaded the engine. I was aware of the recall beforehand and had given thought to having the recall work done on my dime, but it was pricey so I didn't. So when the chain popped I knew exactly what happened before I rolled to a stop. Got a junkyard engine put in and I had the shop swap out the parts with the updated ones per the recall.

I wonder if earlier Lightnings will get a CSP for the shifter at some point. Maybe Ford has reason to believe they don't/won't have as high a failure rate. Or maybe they won't have enough parts in the near future and are prioritizing newer trucks.
