Does AUTO ac suck for anyone else or just me?

Hi! About 2 years into my new two me 22 Lariat. The auto AC function is awful and 90% of the time I end up adjusting the AC manually and turning the fan speed up. I did ceramic tint on my car after the dealer said that the AC was working which definitely helped. Especially since I unfortunately have black. I just never ran into this issue on my Mach E.....though that car was white.

Yeah, I've been kind of less than thrilled with it. My previous truck's (2011 GMC Sierra) auto ac worked great. Never had to mess with it. With this one, if it's really hot outside, I sometimes will just take it off auto and turn it up to maximum for a bit. Temp is down to 68 when it's really hot, but tend to have it at 70 most of the time. Seems like I shouldn't have to monkey with it so much. And as you noted, auto heat is fine.

I was also not pleased with auto climate control but then I switched to the Motorcraft fpp92 cabin filter from an aftermarket brand and all has been well. It doesnt filter as much but the airflow is good and auto setting finally works right.

As @GarageMahal mentions make sure your cabin air filter is not dirty or the previous owner installed a HEPA/premium filter. Low airflow affects the Auto setting. See here.

Went to this thread and I realzied I have the same filter he originally bought before swapping.

Just ordered a FPP92 from Rock Auto so hoping that fixes it all

This is a good point and something I'd not considered. I bought the truck a year ago and have not thought to see what is in there.

When I pulled up a link someone had listed for that FPP92, it showed that it did NOT fit the Lightning.

'24 Flash, auto works perfectly. Possibly the best AC in any vehicle I have owned.

Another thing to look at is the Temperature setting in the Ford App while pre-conditioning your truck, you should set that to approx what you'd want while driving.

The Ford App value and the Sync value don't match if/when one of the two are adjusted, you need to revise both values manually as the seasonal cycle progresses.

In the summer season, I keep both set on the cooler side ~70° & winter, a bit warmer ~75°

Adjust to your preferences and you might see better control during the drive cycle.

When I am the only one in the truck, even on auto, ever time you turn on the truck, you have to switch it off the driver setting. You may also have a sunroof to deal with.

One thing about the auto setting is it will run the heat if it has to, you have to make sure you turn off the heat, pretty much every time.

Always start with max ac on those brutal days then go to auto, making sure driver only is off along with the heat. It's the worst system of all time. If only it would stick to what a driver wants.

Those super hot days where I am running around for hours doing errands and such, I just leave the truck on the whole time and just disable the shut down idle timer. I just lock the truck with the keypad.

It one of the things I enjoy about having an EV.

I had forgotten that Chris Bowe had done a video on the different air filters available and tested the airflow using them. Since I don't live in an area prone to fires/smoke nor have any serious respiratory issues, I'm going to go with the K&N to get maximum airflow.
