That doesn’t answer the question. I know I can use a nano or mongoose. But if I were a Ford Tech, which cable would I use to update with FDRS?
The VCM 3 is the state of the art right now. But because of cost and chip shortages, a lot of dealers still don’t have them. Many are still using the older, but still solid, VCMII. Unfortunately, they are no longer made. You can buy them “new” only in clone form.
What fixed the stupid restart loop for me was getting a new battery. Yesterday @tonesto7 was stuck in a loop and had success disconnecting his battery and charging it for 20 minutes, then reconnecting & the update finished. I don't know if that is the true cause of the restart loop, but those are two examples related to voltage issues.I have looked high and low to break the restart loop on the TCU. I have seen suggestions but nothing that works. Please point me in to the right direction. Throw a dog a bone I want BC too

My 3 day subscription to PTS has expired, but make sure you have connected on in your trucks sync system settings. Be sure your using internet explorer, and send your email approval to retrieve your pin code to allow access to your truck from within your PTS active subscription.Anyone have access to PTS? For some reason my VIN is showing the following and I suspect it may have something to do with OTA update not working but also not being able to send data to the mothership?
Once you login to PTS, just under VIN and to the left there is an option to give access to your connected vehicle. you will put your email address in and select send. the email you receive will have a pin number which you will use to validate in PTS to allow you access. The pin box will appear in the same location you just put your email in. You will only need to do this once during your session. It usually lasts me through the 3 day license period. once you enter the pin and send again it will load your vehicle information. You can still manually load your vin, and view TSBs, SSM repair manuals, wiring diagrams and sync information. When you do the authorization process with the email and PIN you will be able to see DTC's and additional owner information. I normally due the FDR and PTS subscription together just incase I need TSB and manual information.
At the top of page you have a tab Vehicle, like the below photo. in step 2 you will get the email access option
