Wasn't there a stop sale tho?
There was, those stalled trucks are selling now with the release of recall fix for 24/25 trucks, I still suspect the rates will continue to be low.

Wonder how this number looks this month. I see things have started to tick back up after the worry of it being canceled has worn off and gas prices have gone up.

Probably dealers getting them off the lot.

This spreadsheet always bothers me. You can see right when the Flash came out and how things were nice and steady for sales after this product. Real shame they changed their strategy to selling 100k/yr when the original strategy was 30k/yr. I really feel like they would be slowly growing up to 40k/yr, 50k/yr if they just kept the original plan.

Not that I disagree, but it was getting long in the tooth. Needed at least a mid cycle refresh and I have to imagine they needed to push hard on a full refresh to keep up with the GM offerings

And actually marketed the Lightning. That failure lands squarely on Ford.

Well they recently did a minor refresh for the regular F150, so I think they could have kept going as they were for a bit longer. Their current version is still better in a lot of ways than GM. One thing GM did that was good in a lot of ways, but also bad in a lot of ways, is build a new platform. The nice thing about the Lightning was it utilized a lot of parts as the regular F150, so lots of accessories without a lot of capital to create said accessories.

True, but they did initially market the Lightning. I saw plenty of commercials and ads. The problem was when they were marketing the Lightning, those Lightnings were 100k (and more after deal markups). If they would have waited to market until after they had the Flash out, then I agree they could have sold a lot more. They could have kept the 100k versions for initial release and just went by word of mouth, then get the Marketing Team involved in late 2023 for the Flash. This could have allowed dealers to upgrade those to the higher trims. It probably would have helped with dealer relationships.

That refresh on the ICE f150 is part of the problem. The lightning was modeled after the previous style, so it was already behind. Plus it was hitting 5 years in already.

As far as GM is concerned Ford was still behind on range and charging speed. I love they used regular truck design, but a 400v architecture is rough when the competitors are running 800v.

First Lightning got to a customer in mid-2022. It was cancelled at 3.5 years.

So, now that Ford is almost out of stock, it's clear that about 100,000 Lightnings will on the road in the US (less the crashed ones).
