I found this quite disappointing.
I had anticipated to at least see the Mid-Size truck in some form, be it a pre production mock-up or a concept rendering, rather than the silhouettes we've already been seeing for quite some time.
This really felt like a UAW pep rally more than anything else.
I believe there was some comment regarding reducing the battery by 1/3, I don't know if that's referring to the 98 kWh or 131 kWh for the Lightning or the 72 kWh, 88kWh or 91 kWh on the Mach-E.
I suppose that was the only thing even close to real information on the platform.

Farley's comment of less maintenance than a three year old used Tesla model Y doesn't make sense to me. More like an advertisement for Tesla.
I thought he was referring to a lower cost of ownership compared to a 3 year old Tesla.

Example: $26,000 for 2022 Tesla Model Y Long Range, but the lower efficiency causes more power costs over lifetime and higher weight causes more tire replacements.

...Or something like that.

Re Range, what I can share is that we have not compromised on it. For example, if the same battery were put in a conventionally designed gas truck it would have 50 miles less range than what this electric truck will have due to the aero and other efficiency measures.
I can completely see that. Take the battery from the lightning and place it in the bed of a conventual truck, it's MPG from the weight and tail squat aerodynamics most definitely make that truck have a 270 mile range before gas tank refilling.... I couldn't resist the facts

I am not sure Jim Farely understands what a model T moment is. When we see actual products based on this platform, with a reasonable price, that will be the model T moment, not an announcement of we are gonna do a thing, to make a thing, that can make another thing, that we are hoping is gonna be cheap.

Total cost of ownership that is competitive with used vehicles is a crucial product capability, given the forecasted growth in U.S. electric vehicle off-lease returns and that many shoppers consider both new and used vehicles.

The new midsize truck is forecasted to have more passenger room than the latest Toyota RAV4, even before you include the frunk and the truck bed. You can lock your surfboards or other gear in that bed
So a small ass Maverick cabin with a 6' bed? Seems very odd to me when by far the most popular configuration Truck on the market is massive cab full size truck with "short" bed. You know like our Lightnings! Maybe Ford is betting on people not wanting Full size cabins anymore since no one is having any kids anymore?

Pretty terrible show Ford

Let us tease this new vehicle while we have everyone watching our "next Model T moment" yet not show the truck

I'm guessing a 48 volt low voltage harness, you can run smaller wires for more weight reduction on top of the reduced 4000 feet of actual wire.

If Ford truly wants a really great platform that will win over the average consumer, they need to have a landscape screen similar to Tesla that will play videos from all major streaming platforms and incredibly EV routing software. And buttons, keep the buttons.

It’s got to be hard to forecast the price of a new vehicle 2-3 years from now when economics of things are so dynamic. In 2027, 30k might only buy a mountain bike.

this could have been in the earnings report under forecast and projections. The fanfare just adds expense but you definitely fluffed the gov of Kentucky. Well done.

Ford Announcement: "A better assembly line: More than a century after the invention of the moving assembly line, Ford combines its industrial know-how with a start-up mentality to create the new Ford Universal EV Production System, radically simplifying vehicle assembly for safety, quality and speed."

I don't recall reading a single work about reliability in the announcement. "Quality" is a broad definition and only implicitly includes reliability.

I would expect reliability to be the overall number one or number two (along with cost of manufacture) current business issue for @Ford Motor Company. I am confident it is the number one issue with us Lightning owners. I paid a huge amount of money for my Lightning, but reliability issues are what cause me the most dissatisfaction with my vehicle. If Ford intends to build a significantly more reliable vehicle, I recommend explicitly communicating that goal.
