Yeah this is painful. I feel like I need to create my own app at this point. Are we expecting any new features at this point? Seems like they don't have a roadmap for it.
I totally agree... Why cant I see if my truck is actually locked for one? Seems like ford has sold us the truck and moved on. No money in it for them to develop the app. Same for the car software. They added PAAK afterwards but what other functionality have they given us? They have sign recognition, why not traffic light recognition? Seems like it would be easy enough to implement...Yeah this is painful. I feel like I need to create my own app at this point.
It’s weird that the data is apparently available for the truck to transmit things like if you left a window or door open or if you left it unlocked, etc. If it’s a cost cutting measure then Ford can just introduce “premium” app features like these for like $3.99/month and I’d gladly pay that.I totally agree... To be fair, Fords rolling off the assembly line today have the same limitations in terms of seeing if your car is locked in real time and remote commands - EV or gas. I don’t think the Lightning has been left behind (yet). Ford as a company is just extremely behind other EV brands in terms of software capabilities. I’m guessing they’ll add that capability one of these years to the app and future cars, and whether they push updates to older cars will be telling.I totally agree... I don't think people realize how big of a deal that is. After the free trial ran out, GM wanted/wants $60 per month from me to join Onstar in order to use the app. This nickel and dimming was for, at the time, their top of the line futuristic 100k car. The app was much more basic then what ford pass is. Basically lock/unlock and remote start. I don't need or want Onstar and I only used my app a few times a year to remote start it. Why in the world would I want to pay $60 per months for that. That really soured my Cadillac experience. The App has probably developed into something more(maybe, I hope) but I wouldn't know. I check to see if they came to their senses by trying to log in every once in awhile but NOPE! It just directs me to start an Onstar Subscription. This one thing really peaved me off and turned me off of GM. So those complaining about Ford Pass really don't know how bad it is out there. Other than Tesla, not sure there is a better app for free out there. As long as the app is free. I won't be bitching.FordPass is free, most all other brands are charging for theirs.
Or just a damn API so others can actually make apps that can interface with Ford's backend. It’s weird that the data is apparently available for the truck to transmit things like if you left a window or door open or if you left it unlocked, etc. If it’s a cost cutting measure then Ford can just introduce “premium” app features like these for like $3.99/month and I’d gladly pay that.
I don't know what the current state or accessibility of this is, but the FordPass API is/was accessible and was used by people to pipe info about their trucks into Home Assistant. A main problem was accessing the API more frequently than Ford would tolerate and getting locked out of FordPass.Or just a damn API so others can actually make apps that can interface with Ford's backend.
