Op..."Replicating the malfunction is easy, just shift into forward from reverse while still rolling back a little bit or, open the door while in gear with your hand on the shifter and hold a little pressure on it to stimulate you keeping it in gear at the same time."

I see the or, but are these separate issues? I ask because I occasionally will go from reverse to drive and haven't got a wrench yet. That being said, I do have an archived GSM code iirc.
@RLXXI , perhaps you have a TSB/CSP related shifter or discovered there are others beyond the TSB/CSP range or it is indeed broken and in need of a warranty replacement.

...because I am a 1 P driving phenom. I am constantly shifting between R and D and back without ever fully stoping. You should see me parking. People have asked me if it was a manual cause I am rocking and rolling like I'm floating/riding the clutch.

Perhaps, so long as I drive normally and not in a rush it's fine, only has 1895 miles on it and a 25 ym so it's still under warranty for quite a while yet.

Mine was worn out junk when I bought it. Young and broke, so I carried two long flat head screwdrivers with me just in case.
My Dad isn't around to ask anymore but I suspect the shift linkage was terrible from the factory. I know he carried a screw driver with him. I also know it was a Chevrolet but had a GMC dash installed new and the fenders started rusting before it left the lot.

My Dad was an expert shifter of his column shift Chevy. My mom? Not so much.😂
Lost count how many times I had to unlock the column shifter on the old '53 Chevy for my mom. Pops finally fixed it by selling it for a '63 Impala automatic - mom was so peased !

I had the module go bad on mine and it was replaced under warranty. While the stick feels cheap, I am not inclined to make the modification since I also have a 10 year 100K VSC that will take me to 2032 (I’ll never mike out at the rate I am going). With respect to the rotary dial, we had that in our Ford Fusion and it worked well. I would have been happy if Ford had taken that route, but they did not.
