I have a 24 Flash with 275/60R20 116T Goodyear Wrangler Territory HT tires. I really need an All Terrain tire mostly for driving crappy and semi crappy dirt (often rocky) roads to mountaintop 2-way radio sites, however when I bought the truck it was the time of year where you get what you can find... Now after my 3rd flat tire in 13K miles (only one of those off pavement), I need to replace them and get proper tires for my truck. Aiming for an LT tire with the beefier sidewall, so yes I expect some loss of range.
The question of the day is without doing any mods, can I get away with a larger diameter tire? If so, how much larger? Reason is to get a little bit higher ground clearance. Money does not really let me do any expensive lift at this time.

Afaik if you use a larger diameter tire, it'll throw off the whole system without reprogramming the new tire size in. Forscan comes to mind.

Aware of that. Easy adjustment in FORscan.

I ran a 275/65/r20 without any lift /mods

However - a simple 2” front ready lift should only cost around $350 installed and no other modifications needed and mine still drives like a dream which would allow you to go 295/50r20 - 285/65r20 (35” tire) -285/55 r20 or …. 285/50 r20 (33.5”) which I can get in an lt and 56 pds? With an at3 - which is the set up I went with. the at3 is a great AT tire and is a tad bit lighter then others while still giving a the lt option.

I have the 275/60R20 Goodyears also. Recently, I did a 1.5" level in the front. Then I installed 1.5" wheel spacers. At this point, the tires rub the front air dam if I turn sharply while the nose of the truck is pointed downhill.

This tells me that there is NO room for larger tires at all unless I remove the wheel spacers. With stock wheels and no spacers, I could get away with a 295/60R20 and that would be the absolute max.

But, since that would destroy the already terrible range of this truck, I think what I will do instead is use a 295/55R20 so that the diameter remains the same as stock, and the width just looks better. That should prove to be a happy medium.

I have no interest in a wide tire. Only looking a larger diameter to increase ground clearance.

Following. I wanted to go get some 18" rims and tires that are either the same or slightly larger diameter than my stock 20" rims/tires. I think 275 70 R18 is really close to the same AT 33". A 75 profile would be a hair over 34.

AI says

The largest tire you can put on a stock F-150 Lightning without any lift is generally a 285/60R20, though some sources suggest larger tires are possible with modifications.

Then in that case you could probably get away with a 275/65R20.

The main problem from what I see on my truck is the front bumper and air dam. Ford designed it to roll back toward the tire just a bit on the lower corner. This is where my tire rubs the worst.

If you are willing to cut and trim on your truck a little bit, you could go up to a 35" tire probably.

Obviously none of this is going to help much, because a tire like a 275/65R20 is going to be 1" taller but that translates to only 0.5" of ground clearance. To get any significant increase in ground clearance, you're going to need tires that are 4" taller or more, and then we're talking hacking up the fenders of the truck to make them work, OR adding a lift kit.

Following. I am about to swap some Tremor takeoffs on and I figure I can do so with no hassles.
Yes, because F-150 Tremor tires are same size as other F-150s. No differences in wheel specs or tire size at all.

It's the F-250 Tremor that gets larger tires.

I know the OP wanted max size stock but I would highly recommend the Eibach kit for much improved ride and the ability to stuff up to a 35” tire without issue. Not a substantial dip in range all things considered

The no lift is 100% driven by dollars. If money was not an issue, I would put a 2 - 3 inch lift in front, about an inch in back and put 35 or so inch tires on it. Can't spend the money at the moment...
