I might be tripping here, but I could have sworn the rear seats locked when pushed down. Do your truck’s seats lock (or latch) when lowering them back down?

No, there isn't a lock to hold the back seats down.

There is a latch that holds the double back-seat back in the up position against the back wall of the cabin, however it takes some additional parts to make it easier to use.

This is the backseat lock. I know this because it has the universal symbol for "lock" with an arrow pointing toward it.😆

You use your key to lock it.

Correct. But the main purpose of that lock is to prevent the tilting up of the seat to secure the underneath storage, for trucks with it, not to lock the seat in the down position.

thank you for this post as i too was almost certain that the rear seat locks in place when its folded down. i was thinking my use of seat covers may have impeded the seat from latching when its down. so basically, you DO NOT have to pull the "TAB" to bring the seat up, you only pull it to bring the seat down?

I had to check just now. No lock for me it seems. 2023 Lariat ER.
You're on the wrong side of the vehicle, and you don't appear to have the underseat storage option.

Yeah the other side is the same. No lock there either. And my truck didn’t come with storage tray under there either.
Which is why you have no lock...

As noted, because you have the underseat storage, you have the lock.

You're confusing things. To fold the seat up, you fold it up. To bring the bottom seat back to the seating position, you use the handle. There is no cord to pull. I think you're confusing the modification that can be made to the BACK of the rear seat, to tilt it forward, that some people do.

There is a cord to pull, and there is no handle. OPs photo shows the cord as well.
