Captured this behavior with my Bluetooth battery monitor today. My truck is not plugged in, it’s locked and the key fobs are in faraday pouches a long distance from the truck. The HVB is sitting at 77% and the truck is sitting in my heated garage.

The 12v battery was at a reasonable SOC. For some reason the truck decided to add energy to the 12v battery.

Your LVB state of charge probably dropped to the trigger point to activate a maintenance cycle.

The picture shows that the voltage before the charge was 12.73v. That seems way too high to trigger a 12v boost.

Did you happen to trigger any functions on the Ford App around that time frame, ie. Location update, lock request ? These activities might have been a trigger.

I was asleep when it occurred. I’m the only person with access.

Departure time? SW update ?

12.7 is basically/almost fully charged so I dont think it was a "energy transfer" per se. Do you have the shunt installed as well so you can see the current ?

Interesting behavior.

Maybe they put a better BMS program in the newer trucks - 24 Flash - to keep the 12v healthy.

That graph looks like a short charge voltage was applied of about 1/2 hour?

So the threshold looks to be around 12.7 volts, which could be about 90%.

12.8 volts to 13 volts is typical for full battery at rest after charging.

There are small parasitic drains on the battery when the truck is OFF.

If there was an OTA coming in, that might trigger a charge cycle if Ford has gotten their act together, people have been suggesting that for a long time. Some OTAs require 85-95% SOC to install.

Wonder what is going on?

I just checked. I have departure times turned off. I can’t find any evidence of an update.

This is definitely new behavior on my 24 Flash. In November I left it unplugged in my garage for a week and the 12v drained down from 12.83v to 12.43v - there were no charging/boost events. Based on voltage drops it looks like I checked the app 3 times.

I’d love to think that Ford has sent an update that improves 12v charge maintenance.

Yes so would I and lots of others no doubt!

Unplugged truck, no trickle charger maintainer, no OTA, no other even that would turn the truck on...I am at as loss to think of anything...assuming the voltage reading from your monitor is accurate, a real mystery.
