It’s just not going to make it. The oil companies and market makers will ensure this dies on the vine. Even if they can’t get rid of it entirely they’ll make it ridiculously expensive for no reason. Think the etorque when it came out.
I don't deal in conspiracy theories, but you're free to think what you want. In a couple of years, we'll know if you were right (about it not making it, not the other stuff).
again the member on here doing the range extender project looks way more promising. Even if this came out with all the good things it’s reported to I’d still put a range extender in the lighting everyday of the week.
That indeed looks like an interesting project and I wish him the best of luck. But it's not the same thing.... To match the range extender the Rev (and I assume Ford's will be similar), you're going to need a forklift to put it into your truck.

A forklift? Cmon man. What kind of engine/generator would you use? A 3cyl Honda motor is about 120 lbs no big deal.

the whole conspiracy thing, I wouldn’t call it that. It’s more of a good business practice. Doesn’t mean it’s the right thing morally, but when it comes to shareholders and such that’s is typically the interests that these folks act upon.

He was probably talking about the standard generator route. The westinghouse wgen20000tfc is 600lbs dry. The new Duromax inverter 28k is a bit lighter at 466lbs but is also significantly more expensive ($7500 v $3900). The big caveat with Everdrive is that you also need a truck that supports 80 amps for somewhat meaningful towing range improvements with a decent load. Really needs more power and to tie directly into the dc side to make a significant difference but that set up may be cost prohibitive to do correctly.

This was a total internet hoax. I'm sorry you fell for it.
Your source? You prove it to me.

It was at booth that Stellantis paid for at the Chicago Auto Show and they brought a pre-production Rev truck to. They put the window sticker in the truck. They told the original poster on Reddit that the company representatives gave them the window sticker and told them to put it in said truck.

I give that more weight than some random dude on the internet telling me I am wrong.

Again, provide your source...

I think a lot of buyers who use their trucks for truck things (but want a really nice daily driver as well and would like to avoid a HD truck) will be interested.
So the target audience is F250 buyers with a champagne taste and champagne budget ?

A "source" for proving a negative. Sure. How about all the actual journalists who have been covering this truck extensively the last couple of months, attended all the auto shows, spoke with numerous people from RAM (including Tim Kuniskis himself). The official line from Ram is that no pricing has yet been set. The only official thing they've said is that it will be cheaper than the BEV truck would have been. Here are some examples:

It's just amazing how none of them happened to notice a "sticker price" pasted right on the vehicle. That "random dude from Reddit" (which, of course, is infinitely more reliable than a "random dude from the internet") is apparently the only one on the planet who noticed! He must be more "observant" than anybody else....

If your willful gullibility is so strong you want to believe RAM placed a 2025 "Ramcharger" sticker price on their 2027 Ram Rev, that's fine, but don't be surprised when people roll their eyes every time you mention it.

All the journalists? Like they’ve got any honor anymore or ever. They’ll do what’s best for their bottom line. I don’t imagine the ceo of ram or any company of that size would say anything honest about their supply chain issues, kick backs from energy companies, or how much they genuinely care about their consumer.

The 95% of truck buyers who didn't (and won't) buy a BEV truck is a very, very large pool of potential buyers. There are a lot of "target audiences" within that group.
Yeah I can't see any serious towers dropping from a 3/4ton to a heavy half ton erev.
If you read through the comments on some of those videos, you'll see many are planning exactly that. Not farmers, ranchers, construction guys, etc, who tow/haul heavy all the time, but those who need them more occasionally. Many RV guys, for example, have "upgraded" to 3/4 tons simply because they didn't feel all that safe towing their RVs with a 1/2 ton--leaving them stuck with a HD truck the other 330+ days of the year.

A truck that can handle their trailers with ease, fully power them when camping (without having to run a noisy generator) and will be a great daily driver the rest of the time would make it a compelling choice.

Personally, I think Ram got it about right (actual road tests still needed to confirm) and I would expect Ford to do a very similar thing: 130 kW sustained output, 200 kW maximum. Look for generators capable of that and look up their weights. It's a whole different thing....

You basically confirmed the "occasional" towing market and not serious towing. That said, talk is cheap. Lets see them put their money where their mouth is. I could see a market for people like myself that have an EV and also an ice truck and are towing < 10k lbs but I don't have much faith in Ram after dealing with this etorque garbage.

Still waiting...
https://insideevs.com/news/784772/2027-ram-1500-rev-range-extender-ev-pickup-production-version/
"The 2027 Ram 1500 REV will be offered exclusively as a four-door Crew Cab with a 5-foot, 7-inch bed. With a Class 5 hitch, Ram is targeting best-in-class towing of up to 14,000 pounds, while the maximum payload is expected to be 2,625 pounds.

The range-extended Ram 1500 will be offered in multiple trim levels, but pricing has not been announced yet."

I trust that over a reddit post from 2 years ago. Ain't gonna be 6 digits for the base model.

There's some really deep critical thinking going on there.... But this will be very interesting--in the next few months, when real prices are announced and they're $10K, $20K or $30K less than what the hoaxer from Reddit mad you believe, how will you react? It'll be fun to see. I'm guessing one of three options:

A) Pretend the whole thing never happened (forgetting things on the internet are forever).
B) Make excuses (it wasn't a hoax, but Ram must have "changed their pricing strategy").
C) Admit you fell for an obvious hoax because you really, really, really wanted to believe it (how most hoaxes become successful).

It'll be fun to see. The bar is set--$110K for a Base Price Laramie trim (according to "The Sticker!"). My guess is $30K less will be closest. Anybody want to place some bets?
