I'm quite fond of sitting up high in the vehicle now that I have head clearance for a change (I'm 6'2"). But I'm noticing more that the rearview takes up a decent amount of visual real estate.

Below is a shot of my view from the cabin. Notice how the rearview is almost the same size as the car on the right from my perspective?

Yeah, I'm regularly bending down underneath it to make sure there's no vehicle hidden behind the mirror while driving (mostly near merges).

Anybody know if there's a 3rd party way to mitigate this so I don't have to bend? I've already got the mirror up the highest it'll go and I don't want to reduce my seat height.

I read that you don't want to, but lowering the seat a bit more can help.

I drove box trucks since my teen years. Never got used to relying on rear view mirrors. Side mirrors show more.
But if you learned on cars with only driver side mirror, I can see the preference.
I don’t know of any after market items except those huge clip on rear view mirrors. But I think you have to be over 80 to buy one. 😃

His issue isn't using it, his issue is it's blocking his view out the front. There are some 3rd party options available that would replace your rearview mirror with a camera and screen that would give you more mounting options. The legality of that might vary from state to state.

Simple situational awareness is all I can think of. Anything that can hide behind it will be far away so I don't think it's a major problem. If it's close enough to bump into, it's not going to be completely hidden by the mirror.

I'm 6'4" but I have a sunroof I just stick my head out of.

In all seriousness though, you need to adjust your seat for a proper driving position. The f150 has lots of room to do this.

You could get a front facing dash cam with a big screen maybe?

My rear-view monitor/mirror does both front and rear views. That is an option, but aren't one's eyes supposed to be midway from the top to bottom of the windshield for optimum views and comfort? I'd say adjust the seat first. You're tall. You don't need a Napoleon complex.

I remember a post about aero efficiency and folding the sideview mirrors in to test the effect, while using the bed camera as a rearview camera on the SYNC display. Stupid idea, but that's another option. @AngelFan2002 I bet you have your seat as low as it can go and are sitting that high!
