Over the years, we've seen several OTA's disregard charging scheme rules, set your automatic updates to OFF, this might not control "non-inhibit" types of updates though.

@Ford Motor Company, please consider setting all updates targeting trucks affected by 25s18 to require manual execution of the update, owner can schedule a non-charging period to complete the task, in particular those updates that don't require an inhibit period.

I just sent this email to the supervisor that made us whole when our our truck had a module go bad. I'm starting to get very frustrated with Ford and thinking more and more about a buyback.

"Mr. ______.

This ________. You assisted me with my Ford Lightning battery problem and related expenses back in October of 2023 when it broke down in Montana. I have left those email below for reference.

Our Truck has been under the battery electrode misalignment recall for several months now with no fix yet from Ford. Ford has advised us not to charge it above 80% to reduce the risk of fire. Since we cannot charge it above 80% we are not able to drive it to our second home in Montana. We bought our Lightning to take to our 2nd home.

Since we cannot take our Lightning on our road trips we have been forced to spend a significant amount of money to purchase a third vehicle for our travels.

What compensation will Ford be offering to owners affected by this recall? Will there be buybacks offered?

We are growing increasingly frustrated with our 2022 Lightning.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

____________"

Just curious, has anyone received any kind of update from Ford. I believe we are beyond the second quarter.
Has anyone been scheduled for a repair yet?

Just got the notification from SaferCar app (by NHTSA, showed on my phone notifications page) and then also found in FordPass app that parts are available.

Announced in OASIS this morning...total vehicles affected are now at 950.

If you have one of them, you probably already know by now.

Thanks for this. Items I noticed:
  • Nine vehicles get a complete new battery replacement. The others get one or more modules.
  • Dealer should order battery/modules prior to service appointment. Ford will send the correct battery/module(s) based on VIN.
  • Three days of rental authorized but more can be requested by dealer.
  • Modules are zero cost to dealer, part of a zero cost exchange program. Labor is up to 12 hours for module(s) replacement and 3.6 hours if entire battery. There are other misc expenses that can be claimed (rental, material handling, admin, heat shields if needed, etc.)

Happy that Ford came thru on their promise of a 2nd quarter for the solution.

I look forward to reading the experiences with this recall. I hope everyone frequents dealers that are experienced module craftsman. I remind you of your warranty language:

"If a covered component requires replacement under the Electric Vehicle Component warranty, it may be replaced with a new, factory remanufactured, or factory refurbished component, at Ford’s discretion. Refurbished battery components selected for your vehicle will align with your vehicle’s age and mileage and meet Ford’s requirements and standards."

Considering the specifics of these module issues it isn't clear how exactly this will come into play if at all.

I was told second quarter was through August. That dosent make any sense to me, but was told that by Ford chat associates.

Mine is already at the dealer with the battery out, I called them and told them to jump on this so hopefully I’ll hear soon what’s required for mine.
