I’ve got a 2023 Lightning Lariat. I’m curious whether anyone here has added a TPMS to the truck’s spare tire. Mine is full size, not a donut. If added, would its signal be read by the computer and displayed on the screen? Thank you.

FWIW - I love my truck.

Your truck will only read and display 4 TPMS sensors.

No, it would not. Has to be turning, and in 1 of the 4 operating position.

Familiarize yourself with the recognition / calibration steps (used when rotating tires), if you plan to rotate the fifth tire this will become second nature, if you're only putting the F/S spare into use during an emergency, you calibrate to the position replacing the flat.

Ford has a pretty good tpms system. As long as your 5th sensor is programmed then it should work flawlessly. I had 4 rims installed this year that had sensors from an f150 2019 and they worked without any reprogram whatsoever.

Be aware though that some tpms equipment has a hard time programming through an installed tire.

@Ford Motor Company - It would be beneficial to detect and post the spare tire pressure. It hangs there for months or years slowly losing pressure until it is unexpectedly needed, and then often found to be at extremely low pressure.

Thanks for the idea, Tom.

The TPMS used requires the tire to revolve, otherwise the sensors go to sleep. So this isn't happening.

A really good idea is every 6 months drop your spare tire, check the air pressure, and air to the max sidewall pressure. This ensures:

- That your spare always has enough air.
- That you know how to lower the spare (shocking how many don't, and then get in jam, and complain).
- That your winch cable hasn't locked up.
