I had so much fun with the Lightning today. Very eager to test out BlueCruise. It worked amazingly well. BlueCruise 1.4 held lock really well. It's steady in the lane. It was incredible seeing it tell me what it was doing and confidently making the lane change.

Drive was smooth. I was marveling at how Ford engineers did a great job tuning the acceleration and deceleration. It's so fun to draw on the Lightning's power and get up to speed on the on-ramp

The whole time I had outbursts. "This truck is so amazing!", "God, they did a great job.", "This is so fun!"

I was chatting to someone and we were talking about range. The ER really has a good amount of range. Just enough to go where I need to go. Any more and it would cost too much. Any less and it would feel too constrained. Winter range has been enough. There's enough range I don't feel like I'm cutting it close during road trips. Go a far as I or the truck can, charge, keep on going. Ford's Lightning team really did a great job with the specs.

I'm having fun with my F-150 Lightning. That's the experience I want in life.

Most of what we see posted is people having problems. How many people have no problems with their vehicle, charger, on any given day?

I had my truck fully charged when I left home this morning. Drove the six miles to work and still had same percentage on arrival. What an awesome vehicle!

I did drive from 300 feet elevation, to sea level, and then back up to 100 feet elevation. So that might have something to do with the SOC.
My truck is f*****g awesome I have 83,000 miles on my 23 Lariat The only thing that has gone wrong with it(on its own) is a wheel bearing. And I had to replace the tires at 71k…I charge to 90% every day and had 1.5% degradation at 71,000 when I did the tires

Everything has been great. Truck has a "full tank" and is warm every morning, and handles like a sports car. Oh yeah, it can tow my horse, haul hay, and dirt, and fit my family of 5. Granted, the ham sandwiches it makes leaves something to be desired.

My truck is awesome. This is the best truck I have ever owned. The cool thing for me is that i have only owned it in cold weather and am excited to see the miles/kwh hour go up and the DTE get longer.
I’m in the same boat bought mine 12/19/24 . I also own a plug in hybrid so I’m well aware of what cold temps do to range . Takes my Toyota from 55 miles of range to 30 tops . Range is getting better on the lightning now .

With such a short commute and with the regen, you might want to only charge to 80% on a daily basis. Only charge to 100% when you have a long distance trip planned. /$0.02

My truck is awesome! We’ve been at the Grand Canyon for 4 nights with our RV trailer. 240 outlet in truck providing us refrigerator, AC, and water heater power!

I would have been happy with a column shifter as well. But perhaps a three on the tree is just too old fashioned.
Just FYI - Three on the tree is something different. Three on the tree is an H pattern manual transmission (with a clutch) mounted on the column (three forward gears + reverse). Technically a column shifter but not the same as PRNDL automatic column shift.

I don't get it. People have been bitching about rotary shifters neutering their cars/trucks for years. Now people are retrofitting them. To each their own.
Definitely a different model with EV. There are no physical shifting of gears now so it makes more sense with an EV.

My wife has the rotary on the MME and I have to look down to make sure it is set to the right mode since it is just a spin knob with a bunch of meaningless detents. Sure, most of the time it works just fine by counting the detents, but it would be better if the knob had 4 specific positions, like the Lightning. That said, I would prefer a push button shifter in an EV. 4 buttons - Park, Drive, Reverse and Neutral. No guessing.

And don't engage the Parking pawl while the vehicle is still moving - that's just silly. If you must, have an alarm that indicates you need to stop before Park will engage. Better yet, if no immediate response from the driver when Park is pressed, stop the EV first, then put it in park. Great for emergency scenarios.

Sorry your experience with Rivian was so terrible. Took delivery of our R1S Tri-Max in January and it's been trouble free for 3k miles. Our Lightning was having a battery module issue within 500 miles of buying it and on its first road trip had to come home on a flatbed 1,200 miles and we had 3k in trip interruption expenses. I still love our Lightning even though we are currently under the battery recall and have been advised not to charge it above 80%. So we can't drive it to our home in Montana as we need to charge above 80% on at least two interstate stretches between chargers.

If we hadn't bought the Rivian we would be SOL.
That sucks you've hit the problem-lottery on your Lightning - I hope Ford is taking care of you for the expenses you had on your trip.

Rivian is an awesome vehicle and I love their software and overall platform. The Gen2 vehicles are MUCH better than the Gen1 in terms of reliability and initial quality. Most of my headaches were with their internal process and inexperienced service staff who would not verify the repair and took a try-try-again approach to repairs.

Have a look at the Rivian Repairs & Issues sub forum vs. the Lighting. Just on glance the Rivian forum has double the number of posts than the Lightning repair forum. Not saying the Rivian is a bad vehicle - just has more teething issues than the Ford which is expected since it's a clean sheet vehicle platform and new company. I think the Ford has its problems but they are identified quicker and addressed with a once and for all fix via TSB or Recall.

I think people just like to complain about things. Human nature has us being able to focus on negatives than positives.

That being said, I love my truck. Delivery in October 2024, zero issues from day one. Have to fight with the wife because she loves it too and hates driving her Q3 now, can't wait to get rid of that in Aug. Despite the heft of the truck, she's light on her feet and acceleration is a breeze. Recently got my EVSE installed and having a full 'tank' is such a convenience. Reliable cabin temp is a godsend and my daughter loves it. I love it because I don't need to idle an engine for 10-15 minutes to warm things up to a comfortable level. First 'truck thing' I did after taking delivery was a huge haul of junk to the local dump after rebuilding my deck!

I accept the truck for what it is, a truck with a huge battery. No automaker, new or old, has a perfect UI/infotainment system so I'm happy with what I have. I rarely use the built in stuff and choose to use Android Auto instead. With Google Maps now able to precondition the battery on my way to a DCFC if needed, there's even less reason to use any of the built in software.

I agree! I have had no issues with my 2024 Lightning!
