ECU module programming guide using FDRS

Next question, got the APIM usb to kick off but now it shows I still have a software update in FDRS. Might be because I’m so far behind, haven’t had an OTA since November. Here is some screen shots. I only have today left on my license so any sudjestuons or just wait a few days and see if things progress like they should.

If you only have today left, do the next APIM update so you can get to the 2.3.0 OTA which is 21281_PRODUCT Rev: 244

FYI, this can take some considerable time as it's 2.2GB in size and it may go over night but you really don't need FDRS once the update is in progress. Whatever you do, DO NOT remove the USB from the truck until you see the prompt to remove it! It could go overnight like so many of us had, after starting up the truck the next morning I got the prompt "Update Successful".

That is what I am thinking.. it’s more of a mash up of files .. if you can in Forscan see how many lines you have for your as build.. should be 14 now 11 before.

When I get home I’ll pull your car and look at what is reported and see if in fact it all updated or not

EDIT: Finally got my FORscan extended license issues sorted out. Didn't realize that every time you update your FORscan version, you get a new hardware ID which invalidates your previous extended license. Anyway:

FORscan reports 14 lines for the IPC and the following module information:

IPC - Instrument Panel Control Module
Part number: ML3T-10849-CCM
Calibration level: ML3T-10849-CCM
Strategy : ML3T-14C026-CCM
Odometer: 12409.5 km

I let the truck sit for 30min and now I got the GWM and IPC update. Working on that now.

HOLD OFF on the IPC! Just do the GWM followed by the APIM... there appears to be issues with the IPC update...

Hey all,

I'm seriously considering attempting the module updates on my own (once the adapter comes back in stock), especially since they aren't considering updating modules unless there's a specific issue.

I was in the same boat. I bought the VCX Nano the day this tread started and now finally using it. I’m getting some updates done and wish I wasn’t a cheap ass and got the month license. Hope I get far enough today that the OTA start working.

Wow. I was only gone for a few hours and....

My IPC update yesterday was only 1 file on the USB (other than the root directory manifest?)

Figures that it went pretty smoothly only to find out that it actually didn't? Lol

Powerboost Platinum. Dash looks perfect.

But of course I do get the IPC/TRM DTC
I thought I might dig into that today, but maybe not now?

I was going to research the TSB 21-2197 that FDRS refers to when it runs the test against the module

There is one more variation you can try. When prompted to turn the truck off, don’t. Pull the USB, transfer it to your laptop and then continue with the post-install validation while the truck remains running. Select OK when it tells you to turn of the truck and then restart it, just don’t actually do it. You’ve tried everything else. Might as well try this.

I finally got some free time this weekend and was all set to give your method a try and son of a bitch if the TCU didn't update at some point. I never got the message that it was complete but it's not showing up in FDRS anymore. Now to update the APIM and get me to 2.3, lord only knows how this will go.

Those look like 5.0 cluster files? Is that what you have

I have a Job 1 (Feb21) 5.0 cluster in 8" and my IPC / F188 states ML3T-14C026-BAK
No additional updates have been available for a couple weeks now.

I got the newer version of that one, same day delivery too. It’s super fast. I can do a complete format in less than 5min. Did that every time between updates to have a clean drive.
