Full charge, bang, "Exit vehicle safely" - truck dead in driveway

Charged our ‘23 to 100% last night as we were planning a trip today. Unplugged the charging cable and tried to turn on the truck. Heard a bang and now Start button is blinking and its cycling through messages on the screen: front motor off, stop safely now exit vehicle in safe area (battery and temp symbols). The cycling stopped and now its just the exit vehicle message.

The most interesting thing to me is the bang. Felt like a metal tool shifted in the bed while driving.

Only thing that comes on the dash now is "exit vehicle safely". Cant look at the motor power dist or anything.

Any input works be appreciated. While i figure out getting it to my local ford dealer.

I'm not expert, but my understanding is there are pyrotechnic fuses that isolated the battery in the event of a major electrical fault. They're literally explosive charges, that would sound like small fireworks.

Well, they're just heavy duty fuses...not pyrotechnics...they would just sound like that when they blew.

My guess is the high voltage battery fuse blew. The "exit vehicle safely" message likely means that the truck detected a fault that could result in a battery fire. It would be something fairly serious, like a short circuit or the beginning of a thermal runaway. It may be that a short caused the fuse to blow, or the truck commanded the fuse to blow. I don't know how the system works, so that's just me thinking out loud.

The good part is that whatever happened, it's covered under warranty.

That’s what I was going to say - protective fuses blew to protect the HV systems.

No. The 12v powered stuff came on fine. Was able to put in emergency tow mode and get towed to…..wait for it…. A shopping center lot because the towns 4th of July parade was blocking the entrance to the dealer…
