I've had my Lightning for a couple of weeks, coming from a Tesla Model S. In the Tesla, like the Lightning, there's an animation of the vehicle on the dash screen as you're driving. But in the Tesla, on the animation, the brake lights would light up a certain threshold when regen braking kicked in, indicating that the actual brake lights were being lit. I liked this feature as it would give me confidence that I wouldn't get rear-ended during a significant regen triggered slow-down. Unless I'm missing something, there's no indication in the Lightning that the brake lights are on during significant regen braking. Am I missing something?

The only significant regen braking event happens when you put it into 1 pedal mode and when you do, the brake lights come on the instant you let off the accelerator pedal.

There is no indication of this unless you look in your rear view mirror at night., you'll see them glowing.

Ford isn't Tesla.

Your brake lamps are working, no need for a instrument cluster indicator.

Regen level is the same, 1 pedal or not.

I think the intent was to say "Ford isn't (as good at software as) Tesla". That was how I read it anyhow.

Regardless, I love my Lightning.

Overly sensitive much? Just wondering if I was missing something obvious. I just moved from Tesla to Ford so not a Tesla fanboy at all.
LOL I'll ignore that.

By significant, I mean actually slowing the vehicle down significantly, as in face plant the windshield if not careful kind of 1 pedal regen, I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about.

It seems common to believe that one pedal driving changes regen significantly. Using the brake pedal smoothly combines maximum regen transitioning to friction brakes only when the demand for deceleration exceeds regen capability. One pedal does the same, it's just easier to guarantee only regen at high speeds but in normal driving friction brakes are seldome if ever used any more in brake pedal than one pedal.

I have to couch this with the fact that I have never seen graphic evidence for the Lightning, only for other EVs.

When using adaptive cruise control, my wife's 2021 Subaru Forester shows on the drivers display when the brakes are applied. I've never thought about it on my Lightning until reading this thread, but I agree. Why doesn't my '25 Ford do something my wife's four year old Subaru does? Regardless if it's an EV, ICE, friction braking, or regenerative braking?
