So for the front camera not popping up on approach, if my value is B, I am SOL? Sucks because it worked before I brought the truck in for firmware updates this summer..
Which post are you referring to? What setting?

Tried a little search before asking, but declaring that I'm more focused on 12v LVB power draining as of late...

When it comes to FORScan programming instruction: start/power on but don't start "engine" (meaning ACC mode), can one just physically start the Lightning, when it comes to our trucks?

I always follow the steps as shown, so was just curious.

Fix front camera not popping up on screen when front sensor activated (source)
IPMA: 706-16-01 xxx*-xxxx-xxxx
if old value 0-7 then add 8 (hex) to get new value. For example 3=>B. If current value is 8-F, then this is not for you. Applicable to trucks without Park Assist and BC.

You can try changing it to another value, writing and then change it back. Believe that resolved another issue someone had a while back

I changed B to a 3. Not sure why, and obviously it didn’t do anything. Your saying maybe add 8 to the 3 and try that?

Downloading on a standard windows 10 laptop from the forscan website listed in post # 2. Nothing hijacked. Windows defender set on medium security. If my wife was here I'd download it on her computer.
Mostly I need to know if it's Arm or AMD/Intel.

AMD/Intel/x86 - with all of the problems you've encountered, best I can say is uninstall and then go its file folder and remove manually any remaining files. Reinstall it to a completely different location.

Arm - Go to properties, compatibility and change your emulation settings, exact settings can vary, if you get this far and need assistance I can give you mine but I'm running on a Mac in a VM on Windows 11 Arm (though it should be close)

I mean no offense by my following statement but you don't seem to have a strong technical aptitude and that's fine. All you really need is a willingness to learn and not be afraid to break shit. I only say this because both the post you referenced and your reply give no details about processor architecture and that's one of the most important details about getting up and running. Screenshots and/or debug traces would also be extremely helpful in diagnosing the issue.

In the meanwhile, download a fresh copy of forscan 2.3.68
Open a command prompt
Type powershell
Type get-filehash your_path_and_filename_here
Ensure the output hash is C684EE00871D6039E931291D36134D9B9D977154CDB75087C999EC9F9D1D85E0

Your profile just says Lightning. It would be helpful if your added the year and trim to your details. Click here and updates Vehicles field.

You might also check out this thread for ideas. There are different sensors and capabilities between years and trims so YMMV as they say.

I successfully enabled glare free, but in controls sometimes it shows as enabled, sometimes disabled. Attempting to change it makes the switch flip back to whatever state it was previously in. I'll get around to randomly tinkering with it but I figure I should ask here first. Any insight?

I don't know but I'm running a 5 year old MSI special ordered from Xotic PC with a I7-5700HQ CPU @ 2.70 ghz but with turbo boost at idle it goes up to over 3.30 ghz. Limiting factor is the 16 gb of DDR3 1600 Sodimm ram which I probably need to spend the 160 bux to increase it 3g gb. But with the windows 10 and the fact that my SSD C drive is fairly full of programs to the point I have to load new ones over to one of the two installed 2tb HDD drives. It was at the limit of Windows 10 help and updates from Microsoft. It came with a 500 gb SSD as a C drive and I partitioned it into halves with a C and D drive. I now regret doing the partition because so many programs store data on the C drive that it is always running close to max capacity plus I need more ram because of all the stuff I have running.

So I just ordered a new ASUS vivobook S16 flip with an Intel I9-13900H with 14 cores and 24mb smart cache with a base frequency of 1.9 ghz but will turbo boost up to 5.4 Ghz. Most I could get was 40gb of 3200 mhz DDR4 SDram and 1 internal 4tb ssd for storage. But it has Windows 11 Pro which should be good for a while. Probably will need an external SSD drive for more storage and then a backup drive.

That said I tried excluding the entire Forscan folder on my F drive. Copied it over to another folder and uninstalled forscan and reinstalled forscan. Tried it again and while it was downloading the modules it came up with the same popup again saying "Error" at the top and where the first line said: OS. Workstation. No ServicePack. The second line said: CPU Genuineintel. Intel Pentium III. MMX @ 2690 Mhz. The third line said: Module name: F:\FORScan\FORScan.exe. The forth line said: Application data. All the lines below it were lines of data. Options were to click on an OK button or a copy text button. The OK button crashed the program.

It has been decades since I'm owned a computer with a Pentium III processor so I don't know why that is coming up. I still own an original IBM PC from 1980 with 64kb of memory and 2 5.4 floppy drives. Bot 2 new computers for my office about every other year since. Started with Dos 1.1 and went up to 6's doing my own networking before windows came out and progressed after that. Studied Cobol and Fortran in college but never used it but I did learn Basic and BasicA along with Multiplan in college and wrote many programs with basic and basicA back in the day. Guess I don't know a darn thing about computers anymore which is why I ask questions.

However this time I just minimized the popup error box and low and behold I was able to run through the whole procedure changing the modules and so far everything works out. I have Glare free headlights.

Nah, it's good, I'd still recommend doing that file hash to check the integrity, 15 or so years ago my router got hijacked because I never changed the default password so I started researching security, especially when I found out what it could do basically automatically. It never occurred to me at the time using the last 6 digits of the MAC number (other than the length anyway) could be bad security practice. Later learned the entire MAC number is literally sent in the ethernet frame...

Anyway, back to the issue. I could be hallucinating, but I seem to remember this being the error that presents when attempting to run Forscan in a Virtual Machine and the program files are not present on the C drive (presumably the windows system drive) ie C:/Forscan/forscan.exe
Forgive me if I used the wrong slash, I always have to look at the terminal to know which to use for which OS

Well Chris you brought back a lot of old and forgotten memories some of which had to be refreshed by google which I do now at 73. This looks to me like some type of Dos based program maybe written with some early machine language going back to around 1990 or so. Then when Pentium III came out around 95 or thereabouts they had to write a service pack for it. Well Shame on Ford and the tens of thousands of software engineers they and their contractors have that they haven't written something newer and better. Only thing I can figure is that they have this some old machines at the factory and/or on some old service type machines (maybe equipped with an oscilloscope) in their garage service bays that have old chips in them that can only read this old language. If their service writers and mechanics are using laptops then no excuse for not upgrading it to a newer language.

It was 82 while I was working in the Middle East and wanted a computer and printer for my wife to start a business. Spent quite a while researching between IBM and Dos and Radio Shack and TrsDos. Many were picking Radio Shack as the new small computer future, cheaper and easier to use. I went with the giant company whose mainframes I was used to and spent much time on their punch card machines typing up punch cards for programs and data, what fun. That setup for a 64k with 2 floppys was just over 5 grand at the time as I wanted the extra wide dot matrix printer also. I think the PC was about 3 grand at the time and the Radio Shack one was about 2500 and a friend had Radio Shack and he said TrsDos was so east to work with. IBM Dos was a little harder till I figured it out.

Going through all the Dos's and any little tweak required going into the operating language to make a change. Finally Dos was replaced when Windows first came out. I resisted but bot in as I usually was buying new every 1 to 2 years to stay ahead. So to do my own networking and add other things I had to learn how to tweak Windows. Did that for years and finally the next version after Windows 7 seemed to run things better and I got away from regularly digging into the operating part to make changes although I still have to every once in a while to make something such as an old program work or run.

Then there was the hardware upgrades. Someone came out with a 640k chipset for the IBM which also required changes with Dos. Bot one and the race started. Finally someone came out with a small hard drive in a computer and the XT was born. Then came the AT. Somewhere in there they came out with the Intel 286 chipsets. For a number of years back then Sam's always brought in the latest, greatest, and fastest chipset computers with the most storage at a price that beat Best Buy, etc. So I was always buying new computers going from there to different versions of the 386 and then the 486 for a few. I still have a 486 desktop machine under the table with a 5.25 floppy and a 3.5 floppy ready to go if I ever want to read and copy one of those disks.

About the time they came out with the 586 I think Intel came out with Windows and some other chipset that I don't recall and then Sams quit buying and selling advanced computers and went to consumer grade stuff. Also back then you could buy all the latest components and cards online and local computer stores sprang up selling custom desktops with the latest and greatest along with any upgrade chip or card you want to add. Bot from them and built my own for a while and began with the early 286 laptops with limited ram and storage. We couldn't build the laptops but we could change chips, ram, and hard drives and an occasional screen gone bad.

Probably bot a 100 or more routers, switches, AP's, and extenders and messed with programming those to add and exclude things by mac address, etc. Still have to go in and do that and google helps. Still access them with admin but I have my own password.

Finally the mass market desktop and laptop computer sellers began selling stuff to where the builders couldn't stay in business anymore. That was OK until they dumbed everything down on the computer market with their Intel Celeron chip that ran slower, used less memory, and designed to save on the battery. Even Best Buy was main lining that stuff and anyone fast sold at a premium. So now I look to the custom build gaming stores such as Xotic PC out of Lincoln, NE where I can find something up to 48 gb of ram and 8 tb of ssd storage with an option of different models of ssd drives. You can download a computer chip speed comparison and as long as you are close to the top 30 or so you are probably OK. I haven't felt the need to pay for the Xeon chip and the latest and greatest Intel chip. The I9 will work for me now.

I got into the Intel and AMD war also way back then. Tried some Amd chips but wasn't really doing much graphics work then and preferred Intel which I think runs faster. Also never got into or understood Apple and Mac although I tried to once when my daughter was using them in school so we got her one with the student discount. Now there are some graphics programs I am starting to use like InDesign and I also do some stuff with ArcGis.

With Windows 10 updates ending I bot the wife a computer just like what I found on Amazon but got from Xotic PC as a custom build. I wanted to see how hers worked out with a touchscreen and foldable. Although I prefer a 17.3" screen and like the keyboard on my MSI laptop, hers was okay but Xotic quit selling the ASUS vivo flip in the S16 but could get in the S14 which was too small. So on Monday it will show up and hopefully will transfer all programs over with Laplink PC mover ultimate which moved everything over on my wife's machine fairly well. OKay, so if anybody read this rest of my computer life story written in this post then you are really bored and need some professional help which I probably need as well to keep doing things like messing with Forscan. That's the life of an ultimate DIYer who just can't stand to pay somebody to do something that I can do myself. Thanks.
