I have a problem with signaling other drivers. Especially in roundabouts (explanation here) other cars will wait for me, and then I turn out of the roundabout before passing them. Causing a mild an unnecessary delay in their day, and I getting hate for it.

I am using the turn signal, and I can see it in reflective surfaces, its quite strong. But the main headlight is even stronger, and for other drivers its nearly invisible. I met another Lightning today, in the dark, head on, and I knew he was blinking, and still I could barely see it.

My previous car dimmed the headlight on the side the turn light was blinking, so other drivers had two visual cues. The dimming, and the bright orange blinky thing.

Can we enable dimming on the Lightning as well?

I signal at every roundabout and sometimes get the weirdest looks. It’s like a cross between appreciation and absolute confusion about why someone would signal an exit from the roundabout. But then very few people in my state seem to understand how roundabouts work at all, much less how useful a signal is.

I wished I live in a country where people actually know how to navigate into and thru a roundabout. Many are the times where some damned fool will stop in the circle as if to yield to those coming into the circle when it's the exact opposite.

Once you're in the circle, you DON'T STOP, you keep going thru and out, you have the right of way.

We are fined if we not blink out of a roundabout. But there is of course nobody around to write the tickets. But the rules are clear. Drivers of BMWs and Teslas are notorious for not blinking, and hate is projected and zero f… given.

I despise being placed with the BMWs and Teslas, and I need a fix :)

At least one of the versions of Tesla AP would actually automatically signal when leaving a roundabout. Of course except for the most current versions, it was also 50/50 whether it would successfully negotiate a roundabout.

I have a better solution. I wish they would quit trying to force the @#$% things on us.

We have a roundabout near us that was built at a dangerous intersection. Accidents are UP, but fatalities and serious accidents are down, so it is considered a success.

Much of the driving population isn't smart enough for understanding many things including roundabouts.

I wish I lived in a country where people felt bad that other drivers have trouble seeing their turn signals, let alone using their turn signals at all.

Sorry @hb.sagen , can't think of any way to accomplish what you ask, but you have started a fun thread that went off topic pretty quickly 🤣

Problem
W signaling on roundabouts is I don’t trust others signals , half the time the signal has been on for the last 2 miles. Also roundabout tend to push the problems to multiple other places. I think they’re a huge success. I love them. We have been put in recently, where there was a big traffic problem.. what it did was move the problems down the road each way a little bit now there’s roads mile down the road that you cannot even pull out of anymore because the traffic never has an opening or a break and you end up with 10 to 20 commercial vehicles trying to pull out and they end up taking chances. It’s just not a good situation for the intersections nearby because there’s never a break in the flow of traffic this is only a problem during peak hours, of course

Round abouts are cheap. A standard traffic signal for an intersection runs $400k-$600k plus ongoing maintenance. I'm dealing with a push to lower taxes, which lowers my revenue, I am trending toward installing round abouts as a cheaper alternative.

The original question was about dimming of the headlight on the side where the turn signal is active. I have seen other cars do this, but I couldn't say which make they are.

This seems to be a question for the forescan/OBD experts, of which I am not one.

I'm definitely team roundabout, they are better in every way in a moderate traffic situation. We got our first one maybe 10 years ago, I think we're up to about 30 now. People definitely didn't know how it worked when the first one was put in but 10 years of xp and most everyone have leveled up. As far as OP goes some vehicles shut off the DRL on the blinker side, while some may love it, I personally can't stand it. It is certainly possible for our trucks to be capable of it, but I have yet to hear of a method to enable it.

I did a little research. As far as dimming the headlight, I didn't find a lot of mentions there - but there many vehicles that dim/turn off the DRL (including the Lightning).

You might look at the main FORScan spreadsheet, probably the BCM and HCM modules and see if there are any settings. There are several settings related to turn signal behavior IIRC. Note that just because there is a parameter, it doesn't mean it's implemented.

You might also look/post on the Mach-E forum - they have a specific European model. I couldn't see where anyone reports that the headlight dims though. But if they did, it would be a clue where to look in the Lightning.
