Renew Ford Connected Navigation today? Why would I?

I just received this email reminder.

@Ford Motor Company : Why would I pay for this service? After 2 full years of access to the Tesla network and almost 3 years since the announcement it was coming, Ford Connected Navigation still won't route me to Tesla Superchargers. That is roughly half the available DCFC locations in the country and the only way to make some routes work.

Is there any value to this product anymore? The Soon™ on this one has expired.

With the ongoing lack of warming mode pre-conditioning on my 2022 Lightning while rolling down the road enroute to a DCFC means I likely won't extend it, that's the only real benefit for Ford Nav, especially when they stripped out the route planner from Ford App, years ago.

I'm happy with Google Maps, also have ABRP for planning routes and charging stops.

Apparently Garmin doesn't have anything that will interface with the Lightning. I recently downloaded Sygic but didn't get to use the free trial of the premium version on a trip before it ran out so I never tried to change it into Android Auto to replace google maps. Just wondering if anyone has used Sygic and if it is worthwhile compared to any of the others. Thanks.

When they do add it, you don't need nav, you just use GoogleMaps with Android Auto. Works fine on my 2022 Mach-E, manufactured BEFORE THE LIGHTNING...

Good question. I've been left with a very (very) low charge in some pretty remote areas by the Ford navigation system. I understand it's all a learning experience and that it will take time, but that's not much help when you're in BFE with near zero charge.

In terms of access to Tesla super chargers, the Ford navigation system hasn't been advising me of supercharger locations even when they're just a couple miles away. Why is that?

Nope, tested it with both Google Maps and Ford NAV on a super frigid night when I was driving to the Ionna DCFC in Reading Ma. it would only activate heating mode once parked and connected to the charging station.

Yes, it will precondition with GoogleMaps and Android Auto, when you are 18.6 miles away, UNLESS you own a 2022.

I was just doing a little planning for an upcoming trip. Tried inputting the address in the Ford Nav (out of curiosity) and it would not find the address no matter what I tried. I ended up getting the coordinates from the OnX Offroad (free trial from Ford FTW) and was able to find the property. This simple house address was not new. Also, to beat a dead horse, still no Tesla chargers for my 2023. Who would pay for this?

That's the problem with all of Ford pay services... There is huge potential for them to differentiate and provide features that people want and are willing to pay for but we just wait and hope. They play the perfect game where they say "we have huge things we are working on in software" followed by "soon™" and we wait but nothing ever happens, they can't even fix minor glitches people have been complaining about for years. This game is played year after year all the way until the vehicle is cancelled and the software team just moves over to newer vehicles and leaves us all hanging. I am just waiting for the announcement of their software for the new Universal EV where they once again show some nice basics but say "we have huge plans to upgrade it over time"...Yeah okay... Not falling for that one again.

So "NO" with this level of care and approach to software and services, there is no way I will be renewing or showing my support. This is a prove it to me world and the only two thing Ford has shown me in software development is that they know nothing about it and that big things are perpetually coming real soon™

It doesn't precondition with GoogleMaps, no. I don't have CarPlay.
