I set mine on any sort of incline or decline. My wife's Atlas does that automatically, and perhaps that's where Ford may be going with their software update. Or maybe they should anyway.

Weird that the recall hasn't been pushed to the app yet.

Mine already sets itself on inclines, wonder if that was an update a couple years ago or something.

I wonder if I haven't noticed since I do it anyway.

Well thankfully I live in a flat land, but I suppose I should enable the emergency parking brake moving forward (or when visiting the Appalachians)

Yeah, the Mach-E applies the brake every time it is parked regardless of angle and that is how the Lightning should have behaved from the factory IMO. Why add a parking angle sensor just to create a problem when it doesn’t work right?

Mine actually engaged this morning automatically when I parked on a snowy slight incline at work.

From the recall documentation:

The IPMs (NL38-7P236-*, PZ18-7P236-*) on affected motors will receive an SOBDMC software update. The software update will provide for unbinding of the IPM slider in the event the condition occurs allowing park to be engaged.

My understanding, based on the document, is that currently if the parking pawl (IPM slider) does not engage (becomes bound) a trouble code is set but the vehicle doesn't do anything about it. The software update will program the vehicle such that if the pawl binds it will automatically command it to try again (a release and/or reengage sequence). The information provided suggests that the pawl doesn't have trouble engaging on a second try.

This just showed up in my app today. It says the software fix is not available yet.

Just showed up in my app today too. If they know it's an issue and they know how to fix it and given the severity, why have they not pushed the fix out yet?

I just got that today too. As I said earlier in this thread, sounds like a good reason to get into the habit of using the parking brake. And yes, it will auto set on a hill, but it will roll on a gentle hill that does not auto set the brake.

This is now showing in my app as well. Looks like for once we're all in this together at the same time.
