That’s unfortunate. So now everyone who invested in a mongoose or similar device is SOL unless they want to roll the dice and pay the $50 for a license and hope they have updates to install. That’s pretty shitty of Ford to do. What’s the harm in sharing information with people? 😡
The FDRS license is $120 now for two days. You can get a 72 hour license for pts for $26.34 though modules with pending updates and quite a bit of other nerdy stuff. - FordServiceInfo.Com edit: see it was already mentioned but here's the link.

And I just wait until @Mike G mentions he's seeing updates for his. :cwl:

The question I want answered is how quickly you can actually do updates with mongoose and FDRS. Having a Mongoose might be a good investment - but if you can only do two updates in a weekend... :/

The longest module updates take about 3 hours. Most take anywhere from a couple of minutes to maybe 10 minutes in my limited experience. It's quite easy to finish a long list of updates in a single day, or a portion of a day. I treat the second day of the 2-day subscription as a "backup" for any issues that come up on the first day.

A full set of powertrain updates takes 25-30 minutes on a Lightning (PCM, ABS, BECM, SOBDM, SOBDMB, SOBDMC, GFM2). The IPMA takes the longest and can be 2.5 to 3 hrs. The CMR can take about an hour. The USB-updateable GWM, APIM, and TCU take about 40 to 45 minutes to step through the whole process, including the 10 minute 'timeout' period after the upload, and sometimes a little longer if you use a slow USB drive. Most of the rest of the updates would take just a few minutes to do.

Once you've done some updates and gotten the rhythm of it down you can easily knock out a list as long as your arm in a morning. This is just not that hard.

Depends on how many are needed.

Bought our 2022 in May 2023. Updates took 12 hours of elapsed time, including them improperly hooking up thempower supply and updates failing (this was noticed in a picture the salesman sent me). List of applied updates was so long that system had a data overflow on the completed update list.

Some modules can have multiple updates, i.e. update version 1 then a few other modules get updated, which then triggers version 2 for the first module....

If you can suffer through the IPC update, you should be good. :cwl: Took me about 6 hours the first time to do 23 updates on mine. That includes two 6GB APIM updates which took about half of that time. Probably would've been 8-9 but the dealer had just completed the front sensor csp so didn't have to deal with the IPMA.
