Sorry, I had to answer none of the above too. I really wanted to be more positive but honesty is what was asked for... If you would have asked me a few months ago, the answers would be slightly different. I mean, you are asking people and enthusiasts who bought a full size BEV truck that paid crazy money for them about the perceptions of Ford. A few months ago we were talking Fords future being switchgear and maybe a lightning raptor. All cool and exciting products that ups brand perception. Instead we were just told that was all killed off and the coolest thing to look forward to is a small econobox car that looks like a truck. Oh. how will I contain my excitement...sigh... If I wanted that, I would have bought a Maverik, not a lightning. Just the wrong crowd to ask when you have nothing in the pipeline to offer us. And no an EREV is not something I am even remotely interested in. On a scale of of 0 to 10, my interest in EREV is a negative million. So Ford has no future in my future plans because they no longer offer a product I need/want.

As much as I appreciate the effort from Brian, this is going to be white noise and it always will be. Unfortunately we here make up the ford faithful and aren’t being treated as such.

I had a conversation with someone at the car wash and they were like why’d you go electric? My response was why haven’t you? He was a 5.9 Cummins guy, but I told him I used to be and yes you can put enough money into the Cummins and it can be faster (it takes a lot), but the only real thing that it has is range. I also said that people act like they’re getting ready to hook their houseboat up and tow it across country and need a truck to do it so that automatically removes the lightning from consideration. By no means am I trying to take away from those of us who have a need for a diesel or ice, but the reality it that the lightning does truck, car , ev, suv and whatever else just as good as anything else.

But, we are the ford faithful because we adopted a product that is unique and that product isn’t being made anymore. So while people may upgrade their daily driver, we most likely will not. So Brian if you wanted real requests or likes or whatever from my foxhole:

Free and updated blue cruise (like have someone work on this because it’s really somewhere ford is behind). Make it work please.

$1000+ charging credit (claim it on advertising)

The Tesla adapter should just be sent to owners old and new with no charge. I have one but shouldn’t have paid for it after such a wait.

All financing and leasing (if applicable through ford credit) should revert to 0% since the company has effectively made the lightning similar to the delorean. So the tsb and recall stuff will wane and age out like us as owners but the depreciation aspect of this is absolutely foul of the company.

Your CEO should really limit his public speaking engagements. When given the choice between listening to his nonsensical, disingenuous and even sanctimonious diction, and some sort of exploratory rectal surgery in the back of an FLA on a Kandahar highway the choice should be a lot less complicated.

The advertising that was (really was not) done for the lightning to my memory was like this is an electric pickup, and next commercial. I’ve seen greater detail on late night Nugenex total T commercials.

Brian, I appreciate that you’re here and thanks for your time.

No need to be sorry. Honest feedback is good. I also don't take it personally (unless people say BRIAN SUCKS).

I'll leave you with this piece of info. I wouldn't be posting this survey if it wasn't in service of helping y'all and providing a report back to the company. Data and honest feedback helps me be a true voice of the customer, with numbers to back it up.

Hi F-150 Lightning owners,

It’s been a few months since we last did this (back in October), and to put it mildly a lot has happened in the EV world since then. One thing that hasn’t changed is me in these forums.

I know, I know. "Another survey?" But here’s the reality: The feedback you gave me last year didn't just sit in a database. It is the information I use to push for more technical deep dives, better release notes, and getting answers to the "nerdy" questions you actually care about.

I’m hoping to provide more this year (more to come on that), but this helps me represent this community effectively inside Ford, rather than just saying so.

This survey is short (3-5 mins), anonymous, and asks the real stuff:
  • How are we doing with the information we share here? (Be honest.)
  • What do you want to see more of from me and us at Ford? The same question goes for less.
  • What do you want to learn more about? Especially when it comes to our approach to electric vehicles.

I read these responses personally. They help me cut through the noise and focus on what matters to you. I will be keeping the survey open for around 2 weeks.

Click here to take the survey.

Thanks for taking the time. It genuinely helps me and the business improve how we show up for y’all.

- Brian from Ford
Hi All,
I responded to the survey, and like many, I was not able to respond as I would have liked. I would have liked to have had a comment box following some if not all the questions, giving me the ability to explain my answer, or lack there of! I have loved my lightning and in fact recommended the truck to a friend who decided to buy one. Since that time, I began the “repurchase“ with Ford. There have been a lot of small items coming up with the truck, and a couple dating back almost two years ago, first reported at 470 miles on the truck. I do not feel my dealership was honest with me with the complaints that I had. They kept saying “we can’t duplicate the problems.” Instead of telling me they don’t have a fix for the issue…….so now Ford is buying my truck back from me with very little depreciation against the purchase. Again, I loved the truck and am very disappointed in Ford and the dealership for not being honest and upfront with the issues I had with the truck. Take care to all and thanks for all the support on this forum. Safe travels

I agree with a lot of what @22legit2quit said. I filled out the survey, and I appreciate the opportunity to give you some feedback, Brian. I am perhaps more excited about the new small truck than many on here, just because the lead engineers seems really good and the direction Ford is going on that makes sense, but it doesn't change the fact that the Lightning owners feel let down by the decision to kill off the truck.

It would be nice if Ford could at least *try* to make the 100,000 people that bought the Lightning less pissed off. Free Bluecruise seems like a no-brainer. (I have a '24, so for some reason I don't get the years long free trials.) Maybe a bit of discounted charging? Something?

It makes sense to me why Ford killed the Lightning. Do I think they could have done a better job marketing it? Probably. But it wasn't working and they couldn't keep hemorrhaging money. Fine. Ford took a risk, and hopefully learned a lot in the process. But we owners also took a risk, right along with Ford, in buying these things, and so some reciprocation of appreciation towards us would be welcome, I think. At least I would appreciate it.

So,

for our first household personal Ford vehicle, we love the F-150, and when we bought it we expected a bit more from Ford, in all honesty.

Dealership experience has been great, but the product and follow up kinda stops there and it’s even worse outside North America (non existent).

It feels a bit over promised and under delivered.

I’m worried about what Ford is doing, we put our money where our mouth was, and believed in what was happening, only for it all to crumble a year later and all I can help feel is that Ford will have big issues going forward seeing as the world is transitioning to Electric, meanwhile all US auto makers is now suddenly hellbent on fossile fuels again. I’m getting whiplash from these changes every 4 years and it’s not doing much for anybody.

My biggest wish is that we can keep driving this amazing truck until it falls apart, and that once battery tech evolves enough, Ford will sell battery upgrade packs to extend our older vehicles range to a “current day” era.

I like that Ford goes a bit out of their way to make cool stuff, but we also feel betrayed at the same time.

thanks, Brian.

Great feedback.

Also, I'll be sure to take comments in this thread alongside the survey when compiling the results.

I put this in one of the comment boxes but will re-iterate it here. Ford will not earn my future business unless I see significant improvement in Ford and its dealerships' training of EV techs. Full stop, I do not want to rely on 1 or 2 techs per dealership. You have a brand new, completely different from anything else tech coming online (hopefully) with the UEV platform. It will be an unmitigated disaster if you don't have ample techs to service the inevitable growing pains of a brand new tech/platform. The dealership experience will overshadow any and all feats of engineering.

In our home my wife and I use three vehicles: the Lightning, a hybrid Escape, and an ICE SUV. We did this deliberately to have options. The SUV gets the least use by far.
I have said the following before in a thread or two, but will repeat here for Brian to see:

I "HOPE" Ford did the EREV to both sell vehicles and keep the electric drive train alive, to be in the market and actively supplying F-150's until such time as battery tech (solid state?) is available to provide the range, the weight, the speed of charging that an F-150 EV needs at a price the market will support.
After 6 trucks in a row, the Lightning is by far the best I have ever driven, and I am happy to drive it for 8 years or more while the above transition comes to pass. But I sure hope by then, Ford makes a brand new EV F-150 that charges faster, goes further, weighs less and is competitive in price. I really really hope this is the plan, and Ford are just 'doing what they need to do' for the interim until the battery tech moves to the next level.
Meanwhile love the truck.

I love the truck's drivetrain hardware but the software is truly weak, irritating and inflexible.

Big things for me:
So the ability to self repair (i.e. see the same data the truck sends to the dealerships showing all the errors that the truck doesn't mention to the actual buyer of the vehicle.).

We should have a mechanism to order and replace a failing antenna or proximity sensor (a job I can do easily and trust myself to ensure it is done properly) and see the error disappear from the trucks computers without having a dealership login.

My dealership experience has been less than great, and I need the truck everyday so cannot afford for the dealer to take it for days and do 2 hours of actual work on it.

The actual truck software should have an opt in "advanced" mode with all the options available in something like ForScan.
It annoys the piss out of me having to wait for the truck to boot up before I can re-enable my truck bed power outlets yet again because Ford seems to think nobody would ever want this setting to persist from one drive to the next. Same thing for almost every other setting. It needs a lot more granularity and persistence settings for more advanced (and whiny ;-) ) end users.

In the old days, it would have just been a physical toggle switch that just stayed where you left it. I would love to have that back for propower and zone lighting.

Not mentioned in the survey: As a first time Ford owner, I probably would not buy a Ford again even though I love the Lightning (hardware) itself.
This is a shame because my gripes with the vehicle and Ford policy would be relatively easily to fix with some decent management.

Elon Musk runs rings around Ford with great software, innovation, and Full Self Driving and thusly his neophyte company has 10+ times the market capex of Ford.
Even his BS is way better than Ford's.

Plus Musk is high as a kite on hallucinogens most of the time... so what is Ford's excuse?

Looked at the survey, but did not complete as most of the questions did not have an accurate to reality answer option.

It is noble as a grape that Ford has Brian here trying but failing to deal with the pain points that Ford has baked into our user experience. Brian's presence is not going to offset the very very very broken dealership "model", software insanity, anti-right-to-repair culture, complete misread of the EV market for the third time, etc that are prevalent at Ford.

For example, I have the same number of open recalls on my truck simultaneously as I had total recalls across ~13 years of Chevy Volt ownership. There's no OEM PR person that can fix that state of affairs.

The Lightning is my first and last Ford product purchase.
