My FordPass app just got the photo for my truck displaying today. Up until now it was blank.

Definitely one of the next steps. Modules, Tear Tag, Pic of truck in App, then Activation button, then weeks waiting for wipers !

What is a tear tag and what does that mean. I've always just bought off the lot so it's Greek to me. I really miss the days a customer could negotiate price...seems like the good ol days are so gone.

Go here https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt and enter your VIN and the captcha code. If you've got a long list of "Modules" then your modules have popped. If you also have a "Tear Tag" number then your truck is fully alive and assembled.

Then there come many reasons it may still not be ready to ship.

I believe it is some type pf check-sum, this data is archived for future reference by your service technicians if they need to reconfigure a failed module or replaced module on our trucks.

A tear tag indicates the completion of the loading of the module configuration on the trucks computers, we take it to mean that the truck is nearly done with the build process, except maybe additional features like spray in bed liner, or missing minor components, allegedly (back up cameras & windshield wipers) are the hold matter being talked about.

No but I do have an activate button now. It says try again once you’ve taken delivery.

I had no proof and it was just bad gut feel, but I was quite certain something had gone wrong by the end of our build week. You literally had to be one of the last 100 trucks that made it out the door. They were out by number 118 the next day.

There are rumors and reports now of trucks earlier in May being on chip hold, but I believe likely it would be different chips than our week (May 23) is waiting on.

The very first thing they do when they get chips flowing in again is to put them on the line - it is absolute the cheapest way because it prevent rework of a truck that would go sit in a lot. So I understand that.

I just don't know how many chips they pull out of that lot and send out with a small army to start reworking all of those scattered about parking lots.

they rolled us off and parked. Just better economics to put chips in the ones on the line and roll them directly to shipping.
I’d speculate that depending on where you get parked might affect chip install, then Ship.

Well, i guess i had originally planned for a late summer/early fall delivery. Now i’m back to that mindset.

Mine did that for several days and then one day the picture of the truck appeared and then if finally took when I pressed it. Now it just says Activation Pending.

I dont wanna be that guy that remotely detonates his truck, thus I still have not pressed it. ? Thank goodness @GDN is taking the lead for our blend date, now detonation, i mean activation is pending... ??
