On the Scout forum there's a pre-order tracker spreadsheet. I noticed that a LOT of people are current F-150 Lightning owners....which means they're going to jump ship as soon as they can get their hands on an EREV pickup instead.

I find this interesting in light of the good information the OP posted on page 1.

To make it even more interesting, it'll be neat to see how many of those people planning to jump ship will decide to stay now that Ford will offer their own EREV.
I have a deposit down but would only purchase the BEV version.

I have owned many Ford vehicles just never an F150! Mustangs, fusion hybrid, and a bunch of expeditions all but one being EL. But I am not going back to ICE so…… could be the end of owning Ford vehicles, but I plan on driving this one for a few years and then see what’s next. Things have changed dramatically since I purchased my beloved Lightning and I imagine they will change dramatically in the next few years as well! There is a lot of battery tech that will probably come to fruition in the next couple years and that might bring it back🤞🏼. Best vehicle I have ever owned by a long shot!!

I'm part of the 20%. Came from a f150 power stroke diesel!! I needed a fresher truck but the F150 PSD got discontinued. Didn't need a F250 size truck and didn't want a gasoline truck. So BEV route it was. Debated between Rivian and the lightning on the paper. It was a no brainer after test driving.
Now I'll have to wait and see that EREV version of the truck. I'm still not convinced at this time...

We'll see how it plays out, assuming Scout even comes to fruition with VW dealers suing to stop them from selling direct.

I'm one of the Lightning owners who placed a deposit on a Scout, but I've since gotten it refunded because I decided a bare-bones vehicle, EREV or not, wasn't really what I'd ever want.

I sure did and absolutely regret it. My 2024 Lightning Platinum is with the dealer for the third time in 30 days while the dealer and Ford give me the runaround. I’ve filed a lemon law request with my state’s DMV and even if I lose, I’ll get rid of it for a loss and move on. Thankfully, I can afford the hit, but no way I want to support Ford’s shady behavior going forward.

They better succeed at this.. as we all know with the Lightning, the dealer model dooms EVs.

My first car was a used 1983 Ford Escort and over the years I looked at Fords but for years Ford cars didn’t fit me. My knees would be touching the dashboard which doesn’t feel safe. F150’s have lately seemed like Fords best made vehicle with the best paint and finish. It took the Lightning for me to make the leap back into Fords and the ergonomics are amazing.

Most Ford F-150 Lightning Sales Came From First-Time Blue Oval Buyers
By Brett Foote December 29, 2025 11:12 am

As Ford Authority previously reported, the all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning will exit production this year, eventually replaced by a new version with an extended range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain. This change comes as shoppers simply didn't gravitate toward the EV pickup in the sort of quantities that The Blue Oval expected, which has proven true of EVs, in general, over the past few years. However, one thing the Ford F-150 Lightning has been good at is attracting folks from other brands.

According to FoMoCo itself, 74 percent of Ford F-150 Lightning buyers have come from other brands thus far, which is a staggeringly high figure for any vehicle. Only 15 percent of those owners swapped a gas Ford F-150 for the Lightning EV, and fewer than 20 percent came from an F-Series pickup, in general. Thus far, Ford has sold around 125,000 F-150 Lightnings across the entire globe, and it's still the best-selling EV pickup on the market - even outselling all of GM's full-size EV pickups combined at one point.

Despite this, Ford made the decision to ditch the all-electric version of the F-150 Lightning in favor of an EREV, though it will continue to provide software updates, as well as parts and service support for the pickup for the foreseeable future. This is certainly welcome news for Ford F-150 Lightning owners, who can expect to have no problems with having their vehicles updated, as well as serviced and maintained, for the coming years, at least. Of course, it's unclear what will happen later on down the road, when the Lightning's unique motors and/or battery pack may need to be serviced or replaced, but for now at least, those won't be concerns.

As for what we know about the EREV F-150 Lightning thus far, it will combine a large battery pack fueling an electric motor like an EV, but also, a gas generator that's capable of feeding power back into the battery pack for longer driving distances - up to 700 miles in this case. The Lightning EREV will offer exportable electricity much like the existing Pro Power Onboard feature already does, and will be built at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, just like the current Ford F-150 Lightning.

I came from a maverick, which was not large enough and was my first ford in years. I wanted to go full electric so we did the math and dropping gas helped pay for the monthly and we went to a full size not a toy (loved the maverick as a half car).

Well,'m not sure what part I am 74 or 26. I have owned a 96' Ranger XLT for 27 years, but in 2006 I wanted to get a newer ranger. When i went to the Ford Dealer and Looked on the lot, I saw nearly the exact same ranger I was driving. So I wandered across the street to the Toyota Dealer, Saw the Tacoma, and liked what I saw. Ended yo getting a Tacoma 4x4. Had that until it was totaled. The last few years of owning the Taco, I saw the Pro-Power ads for the Lightning. I took the pay off of my taco and bought my Lightning, and have not regretted the decision (except or the halt in production) But I'm starting a bad trend for me. In 2023 I had a complete solar PV? Battery system by SunPower" Installed, in December 2024 they declared bankruptcy. SMH. . .

I guess I am of the few that replaced an ICE F150. Always bought F150's for my construction company. Gave the lightning a chance and it exceeded our expectations by a country mile. The lightings added functionality (frunk/pro power) combined with performance, little maintenance and enormous fuel savings changed the game. Ford did so well, that we will NEVER buy anything other than BEV from here on out. I had to learn these benefits on my own. Too bad, that 4 years after introduction, that I am still blowing away colleagues that had no idea of these benefits. There is a huge market of us that never travel long distances. Ford did a poor job at concentrating on this market. These major transitions take time as people learn the benefits and then buy the next time buy a truck. Ford did the hard work of building an awesome truck but won't be around the reap the benefits of all the people we convinced to get a lightning next go around. And NO. I will never recommend an EREV, even to my worst enemy.

I would love to continue buying BEV F150's but Ford is basically telling the 100k+ customers they did sell to and any new ones on the horizon, to go else where. So this is the end of the road for Us and Ford. I just don't understand why they can't design their EREV factory to have shifts where they don't include the generator. With a little more design investment, they can make both EREV and BEV at the same facility. I really think Ford is making an enormous mistake by hobbling the future of their best selling vehicle. By the time this EREV is on the market, new battery tech will be out that will further propel BEV's and Ford will be sitting there twiddling their thumbs while the shareholders that made them do this jump ship to manufactures that had a better vision of the future.

If my 23 Lightning XLT ER at 53k miles suddenly were totaled, I would probably just buy a used Lightning assuming I can find one with all the same options. There is no other truck that can compete.

I'm in the 20% camp. Only ever owned fords... '96 Explorer Sport, '03 Sport Trac, '12 F150-FX4, '23 Lightning Lariat. I was an early Rivian enthusiast and almost went that route since I had early reservation pricing - however I just couldn't reason spending more to downsize from an FX4. I also have a reservation for the Scout Terra (BEV) in the event I'm ready to replace the lightning when it's released. In the meantime if I'm forced to replace my '23, I'll have to look for a used lighting. From my perspective, Ford's biggest challenge with the Lightning was price-point. I just can't see how an EREV could possibly be any cheaper (smaller battery, but add engine, fuel cell, emissions control crap, etc., etc. How long will it take future EREV owners to realize they almost never need the engine and are just hauling around extra weight.
