Chinese government media, but if accurate (and if they sell them), it’s a worrisome trend for other automakers. (click the words at the bottom of the preview, rather than the image)

They will sell them. Solid vehicles. Our foolish leaders have ensured BYD and friends will own the auto market. Doofus anti EV policies are just stupid.
Far more than an EV problem. Until we bring the rest of the world up to our standard of living; we can't compete without government intervention. This has been the case since the late '60s. Often the intervention comes too late but it has been attempted since the US became a country.

Bring the world up to our standard of living? We need to catch up.

Those ships are real. BYD is going to eat our lunch as the world transitions to electric. The US market alone isn’t big enough to stem the tide while the rest of the world moves on.

World's largest automobile market is 50% electric for new car sales. We are 4th largest. We are around 8% electric sales iirc. We might have already lost.

We have already lost. That ship is moving product today, and they need to make four more shipments to fulfill existing orders in Brazil.

The investments in research and development of both government and private companies in China (and elsewhere) has been so much larger than the protectionism foolishness being pushed by our industries. We’re two decades behind on battery technology, EV technology, and all of the surrounding technologies. Even if we didn’t have tariffs making everything even more difficult to build and buy, we would still need to outspend by an order of magnitude on infrastructure and R&D to catch up. Instead, we’re rapidly going backwards.

Yep We’re toast. We are busy promoting and lobbying for Polaroid film cameras while the world has gone digital, metaphorically speaking.

True, all we can hope for is to preserve what little auto manufacturing we have left. I may be wrong but there are maybe two major US owned manufacturers left and one of them is all ellectric. Even so, a lot of their parts are made elsewhere.

This is an EV forum. The current administration’s policies have a huge impact on EVs. How can we ignore this? It’s fair game to discuss that. It’s not fair game to make it personal.

I just returned from a week in Playa Del Carmen Mexico, and I was greeted by about 1000 of these signs in the duty-free area. I guess they are so inexpensive they are giving them away!
