Drunk Driven Mach-E out of control

Feel bad for the innocent guy in the red vehicle that got hit. It does seem like the driver was having issues.

This reminds me of the floor mat situation with Toyota. I never got the deaths because there's multiple things you can do.
Shift into neutral.
Apply the brake
Apply the E-brake
Turn off the engine.. ETC..

Sure seems like this wasn't the car and it was another factor.

I know BMWs will kill the engine when a crash is detected. I think that's something all automakers should implement in some form. It could be a software function that still allows power steering and braking and maybe acceleration for a short period to allow a driver to navigate and bring the vehicle to a safe stop.

I believe all new cars have a "pyro fuse" which when the airbags deploy fires and doesn't allow the engine to be started (Or I guess the contactors to connect in EV's?

Driver error.

"CHP notes that when they arrived on the scene, they determined that the Ford Mustang Mach-E wasn’t being driven with BlueCruise activated at the time of the crash, as some had speculated, and that the driver was arrested under the suspicion of driving under the influence."

Reported that Drivers in vehicles hit were not seriously unjured.

I would just like to point out that I don't check every single source of social media. In fact, this forum is my ONLY source of information related directly to the Lightning. So I appreciate the post here and the discussion. Yes, there was a lot of speculation. I don't think it got out of hand and we now have the facts. That's where I think it's actually very important to spread the word. Just the video by itself is probably going to be used by the anti-EV crowd for who knows what reason. Thankfully, due to the spread of information, there are more of use equipped to provide facts and deflate the FUD.

Had a few people send me this as they know I recently got my Lightning.

Maybe this is a bad reflection on my thinking, but after analyzing what I was seeing, my mind flashed back to the lawsuits that became common at some point in the 2000s- think it was Toyota/Lexus, where a bunch of people claimed the car suddenly accelerated when they pushed the brake pedal. Yep, it was definitely the car, not them pushing the wrong pedal by accident.

As many others have pointed out. No brake lights indicates the driver not even trying to stop. The hands in the air to supposedly show "see, I aint doin nuthin!" is the exact opposite of how a normal person would act during an incident like that... who the hell doesnt try to steer away in that scenario? And lastly, it seemed very suspect to me that it just so happened to be extensively caught on on video from several angles and again showing the hands in the it-aint-my-fault position.

I figured this for an orchestrated event that would lead to a lawsuit. Didnt even think of the other obvious possibility... the driver was just drunk in the middle of the day.

The title of this thread, "Rogue Mach-E" will do more damage to EVs due to it being indexed forever.

Under the influence of what is the question. But I agree with others that the title should be changed to "Driver under the influence wrecks Mach E".

Looks like this guys Mach-E steering was locked full right and apparently could not apply the brakes either. Very concerning if this is a mechanical failure. I hope all occupants are alright.

I read on 'X' that the police reported the driver was under the influence and no issue was found with the vehicle. Has anyone seen the same report?
