The Waterford Commons Electrify America station has just reopened with revised equipment.

Now has CCS1 & NACS plug options.

I live in Waterford. Didn't know EA was doing this as I charge at home 99.9 % of the time or if DCFC is needed I use Tesla. I will swing by and try the new station, or at least look at it very closely.

I've used several times when passing through CT, the last time I used it I had issues, ended up going up the road apiece to the Tesla station. Hopefully the new equipment is more reliable.

I used this charger the first week I owned the truck to be sure Plug and Charge worked. It did. That's it. At the time another person had difficulty but I don't know why. I use Tesla as mentioned on the road. There are more of them in my sphere. I would like to try this one too and see how it works, for CCS and to be sure my Plug and Charge still works. I will come back here with anything worthy.

Unless you need to charge, don't waste your money. Plug & Charge works at all EA locations. Open PlugShare and you can verify the site works.

Well, I should have also mentioned I am testing my new Ford DCFC Lectron adapter too. I have the Lectron Vortex which worked great on my two trips. But I will now have the official one. I wanna follow the rules of Tesla/Ford given their disclaimers.

The Alpitronic chargers at this site - and a couple other EA locations - have a very good reputation in Europe. But I'm betting that EA will find a way to degrade their reliability and continue their commitment to providing the worst charging experience in the industry.

Every single EA I have been to worked flawlessly. Maybe around 50 different sessions with them as well.

Without any exaggeration, I have had the exact opposite experience. Maybe a dozen EA DCFC vs about 2 dozen Tesla DCFC between my old Mach-e and now my Lightning.

Every EA station has had some sort of issue from having to start the session twice because the "handshake" phase never stopped, to having to move to different charging stands, sometimes more than once to find a working charger at an EA station. In the rare instance that I had a charging session start flawlessly (maybe twice?), it was because I got lucky as there were other stalls that were out of order with black screens.

Tesla on the other hand have all worked first try except for one instance where my old A2Z adapter was not compatible with the new charging pin design in the V4 NACS plug. I switched to the Ford adapter and it worked. A2Z replaced the adapter with the new Vortex adapter and it works fine at that same charger now too.

Any time I road trip now I buy a Tesla membership for that month and avoid EA in my ABRP planning. I only do EA as a last resort.

Yours is a rarefied existence. Most of us find half the chargers totally inoperable at any given time, and the other half will trick you into thinking they'll work only to fail at some point in the charging process 50% of the time.

Well, as of the beginning of this month I had 164 billed EA sessions in eight different states since buying my 2023 Pro. Probably close to 100 failed sessions. Some of my driving is in the SW where EA chargers are notorious for being de-rated (or just dead) due to thermal issues, meaning I could get a faster charge from an iPhone wall adapter. EVERY consumer survey of EV charging networks rates EA the worst.

I have largely switched to Tesla Supercharger stations (I have over 100 charging sessions on non-EA networks) where I have NEVER had to wait for an open charger. I have sat - not so patiently - at numerous EA stations waiting for one of the working chargers to be available. Fun fact: Barstow, California is at the junction of Interstates 15 and 40; it is a MAJOR charging stop for travelers on their way to Las Vegas or Southern California. EA has eight - that is 8 - chargers in Barstow, and there is NEVER an occasion when they are all working at their rated capacity. There are OFTEN lines of EVs waiting to charge. Within ten or so miles there are THREE Tesla Supercharging stations open to other brands with a total of 230 - that is not a typo, 230!! - chargers, and about half of them are new v4 dispensers. EA is just simply pathetic.

I am glad you have had good experiences, but those of us who put serious miles on our Lightnings - I have 48K miles in 26 months - out on the open highways usually have EA horror stories. It is the worst company in America.
