I commuted for years on 120V @ 12A at home and sometimes at work which was ~40mi round trip. I would go a month or more without using a single drop of gasoline in the Volt.
Something to think about is the trip hazard presented by the cord. The only place that has refused to let me charge from an exterior outlet cited that as the reason why not. Yes the cord is orange in the case of OP, but consider bringing gaffer's tape to reduce the trip hazard coefficient.
