I commuted for years on 120V @ 12A at home and sometimes at work which was ~40mi round trip. I would go a month or more without using a single drop of gasoline in the Volt.

Something to think about is the trip hazard presented by the cord. The only place that has refused to let me charge from an exterior outlet cited that as the reason why not. Yes the cord is orange in the case of OP, but consider bringing gaffer's tape to reduce the trip hazard coefficient.

That was my biggest concern.
I ordered a couple of cord covers to leave in the frunk for just this purpose.

Ive thought about leaving the L1/L2 Ford charger at home but just for a spot like this, might save the day.

One thing I learned early on was ABC of EV ownership.

Always Be Charging.

Like you said, you never know when you need that extra bit of juice. Especially if you use your vehicle as a backup power source.

I have a 120 mile round trip commute. The nearest DCFC is 30 minutes away. So 120v charging is not useful at all for anything in my life. Hence the 80 amp FCSP . I wish my commute was short enough to not need it. The only time I've ever found L1 useful is plugging it overnight at a hotel in the winter, and solely for the purpose of preheating.

Regarding "every receptacle", just do remember that nothing is free. When you plug into someone else's receptacle, you're getting "free' electricity on someone else's dime. You also don't know what else may or may not be on the same circuit. Don't be the douchebag that leaches off other's electricity without their permission.

There was a year where we had to rent a house while ours was being built. We went from two L2 chargers to two L1 chargers. We were able to survive just fine. Albeit, we had 2 Teslas at the time which were more efficient and had smaller batteries. Now we have an ER Lightning and an ER Mach-E. That's about 65 more kwh in battery than the Teslas.

If it's the only solution, 13 kWh is still 13 kWh more than 0 kWh. It took five minutes to get permission and two minutes to plug in. But you do you.

I stopped for a meeting with a gov client a couple weeks ago, they have L2 free charging in the parking lot so I plug in even though the meeting was "supposed to be 1 hour" - some things came up and the meeting went long, and we ordered in some lunch, so I got 4 hours of 30 amp charging for free.
If I hadn't bothered to plug in, I would have got zero. It is handy to make a mental note of where the free chargers are, in cities and towns you frequent. I like the ones close to restaurants personally.

I would have happily paid for the charge. When I talk about receptacles being charging stations, I don't suggest they must be free. Free is great, yes.

But I also think it's fair to pay a fair amount for the use of the outlet if the owner asks. The commercial rate at this hotel is about $0.15/kWh, assuming all of it was pulled during peak demand. I expected 37 kWh (got less because I left early). A surcharge of $6.00 would have more than compensated them for the cost of electricity and I would have been more than happy to pay it. But they gave it to me for free.

Agreed, I never hesitate to pay, and hope we see more charging options in the future, especially at places where you can kill an hour doing something, or getting a bite to eat.
