Ford Charging Station Pro or Emporia Charger

To choose between the 2 I'd absolutely choose the Emporia. It has a standard J1772 plug that can charge most any other brand than Tesla. The Ford Charge Station Pro plug to car will not be able to charger a J1772 or Tesla car. Tesla's come with a J1772 to Tesla NACS adaptor that will work with the Emporia of ANY other EVSE with a J1772 plug except the Ford Charge Station pro.

Eventually all new EVs will come with a Tesla NACS.

But the gold standard in my opinion is a Tesla Universal Wall Connector EVSE. I have one at our house and another at our cabin.

That gold standard has many issues working with non-Teslas. Chevy Blazer EV, Rivian, BMWs...

First I’ve heard of issues. Mine has no issues charging Lyrics, Bolts or Fords..

The Wall Connector has 4 Modes. Perhaps the mode selection needs to be changed.

If you read FB posts and such, all has been tried, and there is no remedy for some. Charger overheats. Hands thrown up. Surprised me too.

Interesting. I wonder what was reported that overheats on the charger. Is it the NACS connector at adaptor or internal overheat in the wall unit?

The Emporia is compatible with my utility company's time-of-day discounted rate plan, while the FCSP was not.

I only charge from midnight to 6am, and am able to utilize my utility company's "Charge Smart NY" plan, which provides a discount when using the compatible Emporia unit.

Go with the Emporia. I had a charging issue that I thought was a problem with the charger. Turns out it was with the truck charge controller. Emporia's customer service was great in helping diagnois the problem. My Ford dealer told me I had better diagnosis tools than they did. I was able to capture in real time screen shots of the charge issue.

My 23 Platinum only charges from 12am to 3pm. It’s a setting in the car for the home location. Ford CSP drives 80 amps no issue. I sell excess solar at higher rates to my utility. Lowest cost is per the TOU settings.

Emporia. FCSP is bulky and offers little advantage unless you have the home integration system.
