Ford E-Transit 2022
Hey Folks, not a lot of traffic on any of the ETransit forums, and I noticed many people having the SSN issue on their Lightnings so I thought I'd post over here hoping to get some info/insights. I have a 2022 ETransit as my work vehicle, ran mostly fine for almost 2 years/32k miles (January of 2024 started having issues with the large Nav screen - it wouldn't turn on if the temp was below 35ish degrees, which meant I couldn't control any of the environmental controls, kind of an issue in January in New England when defrosting a windshield is pretty important. After two trips of about a week each to the dealership, they finally replaced the control module for the nav system, and it's worked fine since. Have had consistent issues with the backup camera going to black for which there is currently a recall). Last week in the middle of my daily drive, the SSN error popped up on my dash (as well as a cascade of other errors like hill start assistance disabled, pre-collision assist disabled). I wasn't far from home and was able to limp back, with the van losing all power and coasting to a stop every couple of minutes, then requiring multiple restarts to temporarily clear the error and give me another couple minutes of drive time. Tried a couple of things I read online like disconnecting the 12v battery for 15 minutes, trickle charging the 12v battery and reinitiating a charging session none of which did any good. Called the Ford Roadside people, who suggested a dealership to have it towed to claiming that they would be able to look at it in a few days. I called the dealership once the van arrived and they're telling me they can't look even look at it for 3 weeks. Only thing that changed recently was that I got OTA Update 4.2.3 Van is charged on a grizzle L2 charged to 90% nightly, very rarely do I use a L3 charger. Ford Pass is giving me an error when I click on the vehicle status icon, even when I pull down to refresh the status.

I bought this vehicle from a dealership a couple hundred miles away from where I'm currently living, and it's the first brand new vehicle I've ever owned - so I'm not too sure what my rights / options are. I need my van for work and renting one will seriously eat into my income, does Ford have any responsibility to provide me with a loaner vehicle or assistance with a rental? Should I be calling the dealership it was towed to and pressuring them to look at it faster or calling somebody at corporate to bug them? My previous work van was a Ford and it took everything I threw at it and just refused to die / break down / require anything more than regular ICE maintenance so I'm a little bummed with how this experience is turning out.

Appreciate any information / advice you guys might have for me and sorry for cross posting but I really need some answers asap!

Loaners are apparently totally up to the dealership.

sounds like you are experiencing the same HVB cell failures that has been seen here in a number of Lightnings.

Your warranty should take care of it, but it may take weeks to be resolved. Some have gotten their modules IDed and replaced in a week or two, others have waited months. ??

Not many of our members have shared E-Transit ownership experiences, hopefully the BEV team might be able to expedite the initial diagnosis at your dealer so that a loaner vehicle can be approved for you while the final repair can be completed.

Can @Ford Motor Company help our E-transit member?

Most dealers are 2-3 weeks out to look at it. They'll be able to ID the problem once they do a diagnostic, everything you'll see here is speculation.

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.
