@Ford Motor Company :

This has become ridiculous. It's been well over a year since we gained access to Tesla Superchargers. The Ford Connected Navigation is a PAID subscription product. We all saw the promo that 2025s have this feature (https://www.f150lightningforum.com/...sla-superchargers-connected-navigation.24397/). Clearly this is technologically possible.
  • When do the rest of us gain the ability to navigate to Tesla Superchargers?
  • When do we get to precondition en route to them?
Many of us here have been quite patient (others not so patient). If Ford were giving us full access to Connected Navigation it would be one thing, but to pay for Connected Navigation and not get this update in over a year shows a real failing in Ford's software groups. Is Ford really not able to negotiate this under your contract with Garmin?

I will be honest, ever since charging got added to google maps nav, I don't even think about using the built in nav. For longer trips I use ABRP and google maps to go from charger to charger. For shorter trips, I let google add one if it thinks it needs one.

Well, there are some Tesla chargers in the nav. In any case, if you're going to use Tesla chargers often then you need the Tesla app and a subscription for the better rates. Tesla is trying to change to surge pricing which further complicates things. Not to mention live availablility updates.

At the end of the day, if you're driving an EV, you need an aggregator like plugshare or abrp, an oem nav can't give you all the information.

Are you asking this expecting anyone on this forum to have a valid factual answer? Sorry to tell you, nobody can answer that. The only people who know work in Ford's development team, who are not here and aren't exactly taking personal phone calls.

But if it helps you make an educated guess, it took them 3 years to add the battery % to the dashboard.

Fine for those who use Android.

That’s why I asked @Ford Motor Company. They told us they would be watching and answering questions.

I find the argument that a vehicle, or manufacturer, should somehow 'take' you to DC Fast Chargers, or fuel stations, for those with ICE vehicles, a little underwhelming:

we all have all sorts of methods to make our own decisions about how to 'find' or locate charging options....

I, personally, don't use NAV, and certainly don't let it 'tell me' where I should stop to charge, or whether I am somehow 'missing out' on something called 'preconditioning', which, honestly, has never been an issue, or desire, or need, in over 55,000 miles.

I find the Ford Pass App to be perfectly designed to tell me what I need to know when I need to find charging, or to plan my trip, etc. Google maps works perfectly, too. Plug Share works great, as well.

I like the new 'SLATE' EV truck's platform design for technology: let the DRIVER decide what system they want to use, FROM THEIR PHONE. There is no 'native' built-in NAV.

and, I agree, as technology and software changes so fast, I don't want a vehicle with a CD player, anymore, either, although that was a 'requirement' by many for many years. Even now, I don't want a 'regular' old-school USB outlet, either: I want a USB-C outlet, and one that both POWERS and PLAYS.

yep, keep the technology out of the vehicle, and keep it on your device.

Well again sorry to tell you that account is a social media intern. They have not ever in this history of this forum answered a question about anything. The only thing they ever do is like photos and refer people to their local dealer.

Not trying to be a jerk. You wanted honest reality and that's it. You should expect no change to anything. If one comes, consider it a bonus.

I guess it never hurts to ask! The worst that can happen is the usual crickets….
Plus, Ford software techs have their hands full with yet another recall….

Nope. That changed in January when they moved up the level of folks engaging in the forums and reduced the forums in which they engaged. I guess you missed these posts.

If you have a good local dealer that cares they can manually add/update, but you'll have to befriend them and offer to pay their time. They aren't going to spend hours of a mechanic's time learning how to manually update APIM maps and firmware just because Ford's software team/OTA sucks.

Your best bet is to find a local 3rd party mechanic/Ford expert with FDRS who enjoys this kind of tinkering.

This unfortunately is the only approach. Speaking from someone who has not had an OTA update since August 2024. My truck had a failed update, nothing since. Been to the dealer multiple times where they have updated modules, but my CarPlay audio is still hit and miss along with a few other minor gripes.

as I have said before, when people ask if I would recommend the lightning...My answer is always yes as long as you are happy with the truck the day you buy it. Otherwise you will be constantly disappointed by promises made, promises missed.
