Mice in frunk

From time to time I have seen evidence of mice in my frunk, and not long after I'd brought it home new. When I had to go in to get a charging proboem diagnosed, the dealer told me if the probem was due to mice, the warranty would be void. Which made me wonder, why is it my responisbility to keep mice out? I paid a lot of money for this truck, and the minute I get it home I have to crawl around underneath it to try to guess where mice get in and seal it up? Wouldn't it make more sense for them to do that at the factory ?

Rodents are an issue with ALL cars. Lots of threads and advice on here. You'll never be able to "seal it up", just like you can never rodent proof a house. So yes, it's on us to be proactive because rodent damage is not a manufacturing defect that a warranty will cover. Your comprehensive insurance may cover it financially, minus your deductible, check with your insurance.

Lot's of different remedies, but consensus seems to be regular application of peppermint spray in the places of likely entry under the truck.

I am aware that it is a problem with all vehicles, and homes. But the fact that mice are getting in soon after I brought it home makes it seem like they didn't even try. I have a camper and have sealed that up and not seen a mouse for a while, so I know it's possible to do. As well, a house is quite a lot different (larger) than a personal vehicle.

Many ways to stop rodents. If you live in an area that has them bad outside.

Spray peppermint oil and Caspian oil on the under side and in /under frunk . Or one of those little tiny sonic noises things .

The handle of the 12 volt access panel is one obvious place that could be sealed up with some wire mesh.

My insurance (comprehensive) covered cost (minus deductible) of 4 HVB wiring harnesses and 3 LVB wiring harnesses after a family of squirrels moved into my truck. I had left it parked outside our cabin in rural area for 3 weeks.

Lots of promotion of peppermint. Smells good to us I suppose. But I have much better success with capsaicin-based products. Or just grown your own hot peppers, dehydrate and put in a container with holes in the lid.

I have not had mice in my frunk but bird nests in the rad. grill. So I got those anti mice devices and installed one near the 12v battery. It was hard to find a place that would not get wet. when I know I won’t be using the truck for awhile I hang the device from the tow hook up front and the bumper in the rear. I have purchased cheap ones and expensive ones and they seem to work keeping the mice out. U can get reusable zip ties to make things easier. Which reminds me batteries in the one near the 12v need changing.

Yeah underneath the frunk it’s very exposed to the elements and is easy for animals to get up in there. The problem with mice is they seem to leave a scent trail that keeps brining them back. But the peppermint sprays and other sprays people mention here seem to be effective as long as you keep reapplying it a few times a year.
