as a consumer, I would suggest that any new vehicle purchase comes with the assumed Manufacturers Full Warranty, from the date of PURCHASE, unless told otherwise BEFORE the sale, and/or within a signed contract stating otherwise.

Stephen,

Sometimes dealers screw up and give wrong information unknowingly. If you catch it immediately you have a chance to correct it. But 2+ years later unfortunately it’s almost impossible to rectify.

When I bought my demo I wasn’t told about the warranty start date. I did ask when I was signing the paperwork and I was told it started. 6 months prior to my sale, so I knew it at the beginning. I was willing to accept it because of the discount the dealer gave me.

You are in a different position. My advice is to Continue to contact Ford customer service. They are the only ones that can offer you a goodwill extension on your official factory warranty. The dealer doesn’t have the ability to do anything at this point.

I understand your frustration..

I bought my mannequin in 2024. Warranty starts when it is put in service. That's when it's sold/registered, or when it becomes a dealer demo. In my case it only had 14 months of warranty left. I bought a PremiumCare Ford warranty before the 3/36 ran out. Also my truck was never registered, so it was technically "new" when I bought it (which meant I got the tax credit).

I would look into buying the PremiumCare warranty. I know at one time they had a grace period beyond 3/36 to buy it.

Adding some more context and I’ll also update the OP as I go on.

After speaking to the battery/ev dept at ford, and after the service dept sent the repair info to ford, ford offered to cover 70% of the repairs.

They also offered to TRY to provide an extended warranty AFTER the repair is complete, given the situation with the demo warranty expiry. I’ll update here after that happens.

Google (aka Google AI) indicated there is a 5mo/5000mi grace period.

The warranty isn't inexpensive, but it might be a worthwhile purchase. I wonder if @Granger Ford can help?

The Ford Rep (Jason) just told me he managed to get me an ESP for free (10/150k).

So in all, originally I was quoted ~$3k to repair the lightbar + the bed cam. Ford came in offering ~$2250 in "financial assistance" after many hours on the phone. And now that repairs are done, they are providing an ESP at no cost.

It would have been ideal to not have to pay anything out of pocket here, of course, but I feel like it's a more than reasonable outcome.

Jason deserves a raise.

Sounds like Ford really pulled through for you on this one.

You came out ahead here either way.

If the quote was for $3k and they paid $2250, then you were out of pocket $750 - out of that, you got a 10/150k ESP. Thats a screaming deal!

If you had purchased that 10/150k plan before your warranty expired, it would have cost you several thousand dollars.

Don't I know it. I was just going to be happy if they covered the repair and gave me a bit of an extension. I was not at all expecting this. Quite pleased.
