One thing to remember about the tax credit is that it does not just apply to the lightning. When total ev sales cross that line, the clock also starts for the mme. It becomes more expensive and less competitive against the competition. It takes multiple quarters to be exhausted but each decrease essentially on paper raises the price against its competition which new ev models are being released by other manufacturers. I do not think the credit would be the only reason or even a main reason. But, it might be have influence if it comes down to less than a month hold on deliveries to extend the credit for all Ford ev models. Meanwhile they can perfect our trucks for us. Anyways, I got a bag of chips they can just have if it means I get my unicorn Pro faster.

I believe the complaints that came out of the influencer drives was mainly the one pedal drive dynamics, which could theoretically be fairly rapidly changed. Maybe that is the hold up.

Other somewhat negativity was around floaty driving dynamics. Probably no quick changes happening there.

Just reaching for something other than missing chips...

I can't see them holding for something that can be fixed in software. Software companies launch half-baked products all the time and lean on updates to fix them after launch.

Being that they gave the truck its OKTB already makes me think this is not a chip shortage but rather a late-breaking component defect that they want to keep out of customers' hands. The trucks that were already loaded up last week are probably bound for dealerships that Ford can keep an eye on.
